ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have signed receiver Derek Session, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Maine.

To make room on their roster, the Bills released rookie free agent offensive lineman Paul Madsen.

Session is familiar to the Bills after he participated in the team’s rookie minicamp earlier this month on a tryout basis. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, Session had 132 catches for 1,364 yards and five touchdowns in 48 career games with the Black Bears.

This past season, Session played in all 13 games for Maine, hauling in 38 catches for 398 yards and two touchdowns. He was named to All-CAA Third Team in 2010 when he caught a team-best 50 passes for 580 yards and a score, and also rushed for a touchdown.

Session also proved his versatility in his time with the Black Bears. Prior to 2011, Session split time between receiver and running back for Maine. As a tailback, he compiled 849 yards and nine touchdowns in three years until being used strictly at receiver in 2011.

The Bills also on Wednesday unveiled their 15-day training camp schedule at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford. The team will open camp on July 26 and close with a night practice on Aug. 14.
