BANGOR, Maine — A wanted local woman who was warned multiple times last week that she would be charged with a felony if police found drugs on her was later charged with felony trafficking in prison contraband when jail intake officers found diverted pills, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said on Thursday.

Clover Vega, 27, a transient, was wanted for two outstanding warrants and placed under arrest at around 11:30 a.m. on May 23 after police responded to a report of a family fight in a car parked near the Penobscot Judicial Center on Exchange Street.

Drugs were found in Vega’s purse and she was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and violating her bail conditions.

At that point, police were told she had more drugs hidden on her body, but she denied she had any drugs, even after police gave her several warnings that she would be charged with a felony.

“She said she understood and that she didn’t have anything on her,” Edwards said.

When Vega got to the Penobscot County Jail, intake officers found diverted prescription Seroquel, an antipsychotic, hidden on her and she was charged with the felony prison contraband charge, the sergeant said.

Vega could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted. She remained in jail on Thursday night, Edwards said.

Vega’s criminal history, which dates to at least 2006, shows several convictions for theft, driving while under the influence of intoxicants and driving after suspension or revocations in Penobscot and Waldo counties, according to court listings from the Bangor Daily News archives.

  1. The cops found an ” anti-psychotic drug” on sweet Clover?
With her record and a quick glance , Id say she need the stuff.
Turn her loose , personal use.

    1. It appears you’re not familiar with the affects of Seroquel. Take a couple hundred mg. and you feel as though you’re drunk. I suspect snorting it would be popular.

    2. Personal use is one thing, sneaking drugs into jail is a recipe for disaster.  The jail will allow you to bring prescribed meds…

  2. No Hopes, No Dreams  what has happened to people?  The now lifestyle has ruined this country and if you can’t have all of it right now then drugs is the answer.. People have lost all hope., and probably rightfully so.

I’m not defending drug use, I’m just sad people have turned to that lifestyle.

    1. The ones that turn to that sort of lifestyle are thankfully the minority. It only seems to be so much more because just about every arrest is immediatly reported online so we see so much more than we used to.

  3. why are there so many transients in maine? i can only defend lepage so many times before i have to wonder a little bit why things seem to be so much worse after he took office. maybe its all the cuts, i dont know. but i do know that young men like this one need to stay away from the drugs. there is not much to do in maine, so naturally we are easy targets for the cartels and dealers. but still, we have to be strong!

    1. It has nothing to do with any Politicians.  They have always be around and just as many as ten years ago.  Just more and more are getting caught doing something illegal.  I’ll like to give LePage credit but I don’t think he’s the reason.

      1. My apology to her for messing up on the gender. Completely disagree,  however, that it has nothing to do with any politicians. WE need to be very careful who we elect because sometimes we end up voting against our own financial interests and voting against the middle class when we elect a politician who is solidly Pro-Wealthy and passive on everyone else. WE have to deal with these transients and their crime and drugs when essential programs are cut. I’ve always been a Republican, but things are getting too nuts within the party and we are electing frauds who are dismantling the Middle Class. I’m done with LePage and I’m voting Independent from now on until things get back to normal with the GOP.
