HANCOCK – Deborah Sue (Campbell) Decker went to be with her father and sisters Tuesday, May 29, 2012. She was born Aug. 20, 1960, in Ellsworth, to Jennie (Aponovich) Campbell and Vernon Wesley Campbell Sr., and came home to her annoying older siblings.

Debbie graduated from Sumner Memorial High School, and attended classes at Eastern Maine Technical College, and later at Hancock County Higher Education Center, where she loved being in Sandy Phippen’s classroom. The most important job in her life was being a mother to her two beloved sons, Christopher Bruce Decker and Joshua Matthew Decker. Nobody is perfect in this imperfect world, but this mother of two came close. Even with a few flaws, everyone knew that she loved her two kids with her whole heart and there wasn’t anyone or anything that could change that. She also loved her two cats like they were her kids. Debbie was friendly, talkative, and full of love. She was a great friend and loving sister, aunt and grandmother, who was there for people when they needed her most. Her heart was a big one, and a gift to us all. She caught up with many old friends through Facebook, and posted a message to her dad there: “You left my life so early (I was 14). I guess I never thought anything would happen to you. Thirty-seven-plus years later, I miss you more than you could ever imagine. I hope you’ll be there waiting when it’s time for me to go! Love you, Dad! Love, Me.” We know that she is with him now, and will be there waiting for all of us when it is time to be reunited.

Debbie was predeceased by her father; and two sisters, Norma Winn and Elaine Shuman. She will be deeply missed by her two precious sons and Christopher’s fiancee, Megan Cummings; their father and her best friend, Bruce Decker of Gouldsboro; her cats, Ferdinand and Norma Jean; her mother, Jennie Campbell of Ellsworth; four sisters, Gloria Campbell and Verna Patti of Nashua, N.H., Jennifer Johnson and Charles, and Lynne Witham and David; a brother, Vernon Campbell and Beverly, all of East Sullivan; stepdaughter, Marie Brown of Eastbrook; a niece, Morgan Witham Hiltz, Dave and Abigail of Deer Isle; nephews and families, James Buteau, Tina, Ryan and Jordan of Waltham, Jason Buteau, Miki, Caleb and Logan of Franklin, Matthew Johnson of East Sullivan, Torrey Johnson, Katie and Jackson of Portland, Wesley Campbell, Carolyn and Katie of Berlin, Mass., Ethan Stevens of Eastport and Lucas Campbell of East Sullivan; grandchildren, Lauren Preble of Limerick, Brian Preble of Sullivan and Taylor Carney of Eastbrook; special family, Paula Brandt and her daughter, Charlotte McLain, of East Sullivan; many extended family members and friends.

We will be gathering to celebrate Debbie’s life noon Tuesday, June 5, at 65 Grange Hall Road, East Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover her final expenses and arrangements may be sent to Jennifer Johnson, 65 Grange Hall Road, Sullivan, ME 04664.
