BUCKSPORT – Donald Clark Mattson, 76, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at a Bangor hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born Sept. 27, 1935, the son of Henry and Helen (Lowell) Mattson.
He served our country as a career man in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Bucksport American Legion, Masonic Lodge Hancock County Chapter No. 19, Dow-Clewley Post No. 1761, and the Richardson Civil War Roundtable.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Evora (Bunker) Mattson; four daughters, Kristine of Nevada, Cindy of Massachusetts, Heidi of California and Rebecca and her husband, Jim Stilphen, of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Haydin, Cooper, Kella, Emma, Ben and Grace; three brothers, Perry and his wife, Pearl, Henry, and Chris and his wife, Melissa; and three sisters, Hilda Cameron, Astrid Raymond and Linda Vinton and husband, Byron. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, James Gonzales; and three sisters-in-law, Marylee Seamandel, Doris Carpenter and Nancy Bunker. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Mary Gonzales; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Cameron and Richard Raymond.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Franklin Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. A reception will be held after the service in the church vestry. Friends who wish may donate in Donald’s memory to Dow-Clewley Post No. 1761, 1356 Hammond St., Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
