LIVERMORE FALLS – Blaine Carroll Smith, 64, a resident of Harris House, died late Sunday evening, June 3, 2012, at his residence. He was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Hartland, son of Rochie and Joyce (Hall) Smith.

For the past 25 years, Blaine had made his home at Strong Nursing Home, Strong, until the facility was relocated to Livermore Falls and renamed Harris House. With the relocation, Blaine was just two miles from his family’s home. Throughout his lifetime, Blaine was able to do quite a bit of travelling, both with family as well as trips planned by the nursing home. A very special trip for him was when he was able to spend a week in Florida to celebrate his 60th birthday. For that trip, he was accompanied by three staff members from Harris House and he was also able to visit his family while they were in Florida.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Nash and husband, Wesley, of Millinocket; two nieces, Laurie Nash and special friend, Robert Conway, of Marietta, Ohio, and Diane MacGilvray of Melbourne, Fla.; and two very special longtime friends, Rosalie Bates of New Vineyard and Deborah Wing of Strong. He was predeceased by his parents; and an infant sister, Lisa Lorraine Smith. Blaine’s family thanks all the wonderful staff members from Strong Nursing Home and Harris House for the amazing job they did providing him with such a wonderful home that was filled with heartfelt love and wonderful care.

A graveside service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bryant Road, Dexter, will be announced at a later date. If desired, contributions may be made to Harris House, 45 Brookside Ave., Livermore Falls, ME 04254. Arrangements by Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls.
