PITTSFIELD – Leona R. McCue, 89, died peacefully Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Pittsfield. Leona was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Caribou, daughter of Austin and Erie (Burgess) Hazlett.

She attended school in Woodland Center and was a former member of East Newport Grange and Rebekah’s Lodge. She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and playing cards. She loved the Lord and enjoyed watching Christian programming.

She is survived by her children, Ada Bragg Fraser of Hartland, Delores Petrosky and husband, William, of Newport, Rhoda Harding and husband, Charles, of Florida and Amos Adams of Clinton; stepchildren, Tim McCue and wife, Donna, of Massachusetts, Gary McCue, Marty McCue and wife, Kim, and MaryEllen McCue, all of Newport; special daughter-in-law, Janice McCue; 28 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Adams; second husband, Paul McCue Sr.; sons, John Adams Jr. and Joseph Adams; daughter, Christine Pelkey; and stepsons, Paul McCue Jr. and Bobby McCue.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-noon Friday, June 8, with a funeral service beginning noon at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with Pastor Paul Parker officiating. Interment will be after at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. There will be a gathering after the committal service and all are welcome.
