NEWPORT – Henry “Hank” C. Prew, 76, died June 3, 2012, at a West Roxbury, Mass., Veterans Affairs hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Boston, a son of Charles and Virginia (Adrian) Prew.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Hank was an entrepreneur in the Canaan area, which included Canaan Redemption, where he also operated a sub and pizza shop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Prew of Newport; two sons, Gary Prew of Stetson and Barry Prew of Bangor; two daughters and their husbands, Tina and Randy Randall of Stetson, Sandy and Wade Wheeler of Palmyra; a sister, Marie Korgan of California; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Tucci.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. David Ray Sr. officiating.
