BANGOR – Darrell Botting, 55, died June 4, 2012, at his home on Main Street, Bangor. He was born Jan. 6, 1957, in Houlton, the son of Victor F. Botting Sr. of Oakfield and Glenna Gould Botting of Sherman.
Darrell graduated from Westbrook High School in 1975. After graduation he served as a medic in the U.S. Air Force.
Darrell worked as a cook for several restaurants in the Bangor area, plus resorts in Maine and beyond – Camp Skylemar, Naples; Wentworth by the Sea in New Hampshire, and Sereno Hotel, St. Petersburg, Fla. He had a 25-year career as a cook and caterer at the University of Maine, Orono, from which he retired in 2007. His lifelong hobbies included fishing, golf, reading, going to camp and being a New England sports fan. He was a proud father, son and brother, who was very caring toward his family and friends.
Darrell is survived by his son, Joshua Botting of Woolrich; his daughter, Brandy of Portland; his father, Victor and his stepmother, Delores; his brothers, David of Hermon, Butch of Sherman, Bill of Bangor and Harold of Orono; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
