BANGOR, Maine — A man using a hypodermic needle in his car backed over an officer’s foot after being approached by police late Tuesday night, Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
Edwards said police have not caught the suspect, nor do they have his name. Officers Taylor Bagley and Joe Page found the man’s car abandoned in the parking lot of the Ranger Inn on outer Hammond Street shortly after he drove away, the sergeant said, and the car has since been towed to the police station for processing.
Bagley, who approached and startled the suspect on First Street at 11:35 p.m., did not need medical attention because the car’s tire hit just the tip of his foot, Edwards said. (Dylan Martin, BDN)

I think we can say that it is bad now! Stabbings and drugs, police are down there continually.
The officer was lucky. The tire could have mangled his foot. I’m no expert on the law, but it would seem that if the suspect intentionally used his car as a ‘weapon’ to harm the officer, then the officer has the right to put a bullet in him. So, I guess they are both lucky!
They will get him sooner or later. Hopefully sooner,they need to get people like him off the street.

I am no genius, never claimed to be, but they say in this story anyway that they have towed this person’s vehicle to the impound yard. It does not say that there were no plates on the car so assuming that there is plates on the car, they can run the plates cant they? Wouldnt that give them the name of the person or at least the name of who owns the car, so they can question them as to who was driving it? Not trying to be a smart alec, but this just kinda makes sense..
Well, that’s assuming he was not using a vehicle registered to someone else. He may have been borrowing a car, or have stolen one. If I was driving my van and the police ran the plates on it, it wouldn’t come up with my name, but my husband’s. A very good question though!!
At least it’s a place to start. I’m surprised they aren’t going that route (at least it doesn’t say so in the article).
The ro should be on the registration. That’s suppose to be in the vehicle as well. So is the insurance.
