ENFIELD, Conn. – Nina Carter Weir, beloved wife of James M. Weir, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Enfield, Conn., after a long illness, with her family at her side. She was born June 13, 1927, in Masardis, the daughter of Clair and Pearl Carter.
She grew up in Oakfield, worked as a medical secretary early in her life, and lived in several parts of the country for many years as a mother and military wife. She later settled in Enfield, Conn., for 20 years before enjoying retirement with her husband in Florida. Some of her favorite things included books, discussions of current events and the annual Christmas cookie-decorating gala with her grandchildren.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, James, with whom she was married for 57 years; daughter, Sheila and son-in-law, Thomas Malcolm, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; grandchildren, Caitlin Malcolm of North Andover, Mass., and Tara Malcolm and husband, Peter Phelps; great-grandchildren, Seana and Logan Gamache, and Wyatt, Marie and Elizabeth Phelps of Wakefield, R.I.
A celebration of Nina’s life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
