WINSLOW and DEXTER – Winnifred M. “Winnie” Daigle, 86, died June 14, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Waterville. She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Dexter, daughter of Joseph and Annie Clukey.

She graduated from N.H. Fay High School, class of 1945. In her younger years she had been employed by Dexter Shoe Co. and later as a cook and waitress. She very much enjoyed traveling with her daughter, gardening and bird watching. In her later years she could be found watching tennis by the hour, especially her favorite player, Roger Federer.

She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Daigle of Winslow, who she had lived with for the last five years; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Daigle, in 1995; five brothers, Nazier Clukey Sr., Nelson Clukey, Angus Clukey, Galen Clukey and Fernald Clukey; and three sisters, Sylvia (Clukey) Payne, Joyce Clukey and Lily Clukey. The family thanks the CCU nurses of MaineGeneral Medical Center and especially her doctor, Dr. Andrew Rice.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Father Paul Murray officiating.
