ORONO – Regina O. (Manzo) Kocur, 80, died June 19, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Millinocket, daughter of Alexandra and Ositha (Ouellette) Manzo.

Regina a graduate of Stearns High School went to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. There she met John J. Kocur Jr. and married him after the war where they were shipped to Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, until moving to Orono. Regina was then employed by the town of Orono where she worked for 27 years as a dispatcher for Orono Police and Fire departments. Regina was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono; she served with the Daughters of Isabella and was there past regent until she fell ill. Regina was a religious, caring, loving and proud Italian woman, who always made her family her top priority. Regina’s hobbies included enjoying spending time making quilts for the church raffles, spending time with her family, but her favorite times where watching her grandchildren grow.

Regina is survived by two daughters, Anne (Kocur) and husband, Basil Osolinski, and Donna Gail (Kocur) Cowan of Orono; four grandchildren, Alston Muir III, Aja Matthews, Lance Cowan and Michelle Smart; three brothers, Alex Manzo and wife, Isabella, Mike Manzo, and Roger Manzo and wife, Joann; brother-in-law, Ed Crowley; many nieces and nephews; two special friends, Sophie Wirta and Marilyn Cowan; in addition to, Lester G. Cowan, who was like a son. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Kocur Jr.; daughter, Rose (Kocur) Smart; three brothers, Kenneth, Albert and Harry Manzo; and five sisters, Angeline Manzo, Alice (Manzo) Crowley, Madeline (Manzo) Fredrick’s, Ida (Manzo) and Stella (Manzo) Miller.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call between the hours 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Brookings-Smith, Orono Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Newman Center, Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, 83 College Ave., Orono. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall after the service. Interment with military honors will be held at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket.
