SOUTH PARIS – Raymond P. Hayward, 79, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, South Paris. He was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Amherst, son of Austin H. and Velma (MacDonald) Hayward.
Raymond served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years with Maine Department of Transportation doing various jobs, retiring in 1996. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his close friends.
He is survived by his son, Randy and wife, Joline, of Amherst; daughters, Pamela Hayward of Ellsworth and Claire Babin of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Hayward.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Mount Rest Cemetery, Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St., South Paris, ME 04281.
