ROCKLAND, Maine — A frequent offender is again in jail, this time for assaulting his girlfriend, who is 8 months pregnant, police say.
Lee Williams, 25, of Thomaston was arrested for domestic violence assault on Friday and made his first court appearance the same day. As of Friday afternoon, Williams was still in jail after bail was set at $5,000 cash or $50,000 surety with supervised release.
The new charge follows a long list of convictions for numerous offenses including three assaults, five incidents of terrorizing, obstructing the report of a crime, domestic violence assault, assault on an officer, criminal mischief, four violations of protective orders, four violations of conditions of release and two incidents of refusing to submit to arrest. All those convictions were in the last five years, according to Williams’ criminal history record with the Maine Bureau of Identification.
After hearing screaming and banging in Williams’ apartment, a neighbor called police. Williams, who appeared to be “in a state of high anger,” told police that he was trying to get his live-in girlfriend to leave his apartment, according to an affidavit filed in Knox County Superior Court.
“Williams put his arms around her belly from the back and began to pull on her to remove her from the house. She was screaming in pain because she is 8 months pregnant. [The woman] told Lee Williams to stop because it was hurting her belly. [She] stated Lee Williams stated, ‘he didn’t give a [expletive] if it died,” wrote officer Michael Blais of the Thomaston Police Department.
According to the victim, Williams was angry on June 15 because he woke up late and had to get his children to day care before he went to work at Pizza Hut. The girlfriend was trying to get her 3-year-old boy ready at the time when “Williams began throwing things and yelling at her,” Blais wrote.
The woman had already packed her and her children’s belongings after a fight a few days before.
“Williams began to unpack the clothes and told her to ‘get the [expletive] out of his house,’” the police report stated. Williams said she could get the clothes back later when he decided she could, the victim told police. She said she refused to leave without her children’s things, like she had on previous occasions. That’s when Williams pushed a cradle into the woman’s pregnant belly, which made her fall to the ground, according to the police report.
“Williams then grabbed her [3-year-old] son by the pants and shirt and was going to throw the child out the door,” according to the police report. The woman grabbed the child back, which is when Williams tried to do the same thing to her 10-month old boy, whom she was able to get to first.
When the woman reached for a cellphone to call for help, Williams “swung her around, grabbing both of her arms and began to slam her against the wall 10 to 15 times” while calling her various vulgar terms, Blais wrote in his affidavit.
He screamed at her and said “if he goes to jail that [the woman] would regret it,” the report stated.
When police arrived the woman was smoking outside, barefoot and “extremely shaken up,” Blais wrote. She told the policeman that nothing was wrong. But two hours after Blais left the scene the woman went to the police station and told the officer her story, saying she hadn’t felt safe telling him at the time and at Williams’ apartment.

No – but the protective order is an ‘administative’ paper. Our “justice” system certainly has not taken care of him yet. Without it, it never will. With it, and the right prosecutor, a case can be built showing extreme fear of harm. I can tell you from my own experience with a friend of mine that the Maine justice system talks a good talk in these cases, but does not walk the walk. And I DO know how much fright the paper puts into someone (it doesnt) but its all a matter of playing the game. I hope she fills out the paper for her and her children. She has to be willing to go through the motions. As far as the rest of your comment, he needs to be picking up more than his teeth… and thats putting it mildly.

listing those programs didn’t really help your rebuttal – especially the FDA which is known to be a joke. Most if not all of those programs are inefficient and a severe restructuring is needed as well as accountability.

The fact that the FDA continues to allow known carcinogenic agents (preservatives etc..) in our foods and in cosmetics – often agents banned in other countries – makes it a joke. A lot of citizens believe that these foods and other products are safe because the FDA approves it, yet they are not. Yes, the idea of the programs are good, but I stand with my original opinion that they are, at this moment, a joke and inefficient- a sick and twisted one perhaps, but a joke none the less.

I thought they (whoever ‘they’ are) are supposed to take into account previous violent behavior. Steven Lake has a twin apparently and the justice system keeps enabling these losers by letting them out on ridiculously low bails, allowing them to continually break multiple protective orders, break multiple violations of release, etc, etc, etc. I can’t be the only one who thinks this system is FUBAR.
What’s it going to take before ‘they’ take this shmuck seriously? Does he need to kill the woman and her babies before something is done with him? After the guy kills someone THEN will the police, courts and DA catch a clue? Come on judicial system why does it seem you are the only one’s that can’t seem to see where this is eventually going to end up? I hope DHHS has been made aware of this situation!!! This is so sad with her children almost being abused by this jerk and all the children witnessing this horrible event…the cycle of abuse goes on. I agree, where is his pix?
ARE YOU KIDDING?? Law enforcement, you’re on notice now as is DHHS. If this guy is let out of jail, there’s going to be a fatality next. Please protect the kids, get the woman to safety and therapy, and keep the poor sucker in jail…..
This young lady needs to GET AWAY and STAY AWAY from this guy. The kids will be a mess. NO kid should grow up in that kind of environment. If she can’t bring herself to get out and get help, then DHHS indeed should step in the take the kids. According to the report, he’s done this before. A 3 year old, a 10 month old, and 8 months pregnant… what have they already been subject to?
DHHS should already be actively involved in this matter considering all the prior actions of this man. The impaired judgment of the live-in pregnant girlfriend needs to be addressed by DHHS to protect the children that are being involved in this violence. If she continually exposes these helpless children, along with the unborn child, to this dangerous lifestyle, something needs to be done about her.

I always believed that people should be allowed the freedoms to do as they like. But once someone gets money from the public to support themselves and their children it affects me. It should be mandatory birth control after first child and sterilized after second.. both these people lives probably cost us $3.000.00 per month each in support.
This guy, supposedly, threatened to kill an almost full-term unborn child, tried to throw a 3 year old and then went after a 10 month old, and abused a pregnant woman…and you’re worried about their maritial status and how it might affect you?! This article doesn’t say anything about them being on state assisstance, and even if they are that has nothing to do with domestic violence. Let me guess, it’s probably the woman’s fault right? The reality is that we all get some assisstance from others, no matter what you might pay in taxes you still rely on the taxes of others to pay for road repair, police, fire….etc.

Really?? I have raised my four children, alone, no help from the government, for 20 years. They have now all moved out on their own….but I did it on less than $20,000 a year! My kids never went without, I owned my own car, and along with the basic neccessaties, we even managed to go on little mini vacations once in awhile. Even tho I went without, some of the time, it can be done because my children always came first. Now that they’ve all gotten jobs of their own, they give me little gifts of money once in awhile to go do with it what I want. What an abusive relationship and early childhood taught the 5 of us, it’s that with the right resources, you CAN come out the other side and be stronger people.
In your theory, you would have to know: how much of an allotment of food stamps and TANF a family of 3 get for a month. Medical bills can vary as well as shelter expenses. Like I said, I did it with 2 more kids and less than half the amount you came up with….
That is wonderful. I have total respect for you.. When I was younger we also live with less some times were tuff. It gives you respect for what you have, you are a great person..
So why doesn’t it make you mad when the State and Federal Government gives people more than what you had for free?? they live a better lifestyle than you did and don’t respect what they have. Yours is a great story, thank you for sharing.

What makes me madder than this, is the junkies who have everything handed to them. They have NO motivation whatsoever to do anything. They get the Mainecare that I should be getting. My kids, right now have no health insurance either and can’t afford to get any. The elderly that get $10 a month in food stamps……then there are the junkies, getting $300, $400 or more a month in food stamps…..they get a free fix and transportation paid for, to get this fix. I work in a place where I see what these people have on their SNAP cards after they pay for the junk they buy.
Thanks for the compliment, but I’m not a ‘great’ person, just someone who can give you the other side of an abusive relationship and what it’s like to get beyond it. Just please don’t ever think that a victim can “just leave.” Believe me, it’s not that easy.

Allegedly is the word used in the headline. she denied any abuse then hours later she went to the police and told them this story..
I do not like people who abuse anybody and they should be punished serverly. I really hate people who put so much fear into others that they can’t even use the bathroom, people like that are bad people and I cannot say what needs to be done to them.
I do not consent to the use of my tax dollars for 2 kids maybe 3 and mother. maybe next year she will have another, are you OK with supporting another and another etc.etc… forever… We as a country cannot afford this type of system.. Someday soon the country won’t be able to borrow money from other countries to run these programs any longer…
Guy is 25 years old, has been convicted of all those crimes. If you add the max penalty up of all those crimes, it should be somewhere aroun 25.5 years. And yet hes not in prison. (Class E Max is 6 months locked up Class D is 1 year, and calss C is 5 anyone wants to check it out just google Title 17-A MRSA)

And since we don’t know the circumstances of her being pregnant so soon after the birth of the 10 month old, and given his numerous other crimes, how is anyone to know he didn’t rape her and she was too scared to report it? Unless you have been in an abusive relationship, you will not understand the dynamics of one. It’s not that easy to “just leave.” The abuser has taken control of your life…everything you say and do. Your self-esteem is taken, your trust and you are afraid to DO OR SAY ANYTHING. They keep you isolated from friends and family. You want to believe them when they say they’re sorry……it won’t happen again….I was married to an abusive “man” and listened/believed his BS for 10 years. I left many times, just to believe him when he gave those excuses. They tell you want they know you want to hear. I have said this many times, go visit a womens shelter, listen to what they tell you. It’s not as easy as you think or visualize when wondering why people don’t leave abusive relationships. It’s like living in a horror movie 24/7, only it’s not a movie…..it’s real life. The best movie I have seen that portrays domestic abuse is “The Burning Bed” with Farrah Fawcett. That is as true to life as you can get…….but some women go thru far worse. Go talk to Amy Lake’s family and listen to what they tell you. If you don’t want to do any of this, please do not assume it’s an easy thing to “just leave.”

Sounds like one happy family. Why does he have his children living with him if he is so abusive? Why would any woman want to have his child? He needs to be locked up for a long while with the long rap sheet that he has.
a guy made a staement on the article yesterday on the fact they put the girls pics up when they get nailed for hooking,but not guys who beat their woman and kids..looks like he was right.
Obviously there is something fundamentally lacking in our legal system. Situations such as this are why people endorse the 3 strikes you’re out laws around our country. I am neither pro nor anti firearm yet perhaps this is a situation where this young woman should learn the proper way to handle and use a firearm and then buy or borrow one until this guy is locked away forever.

This woman is as much to blame for staying..abuse or no abuse about the day anyone assaulted my child and I tolerated It… I deserve a BEATING. I know all the talk of scared to leave and so on but for god sakes a scared dog, a beaten dog, will still protect her own! and I can’t imagine dogs have more intelligence then women/humans. except maybe in this case. I have little sympathy for this “mother” I feel for her children and the HUMAN baby inside of her. I am PRO CHOICE but some comments that this is not a child yet is ridiculouse
