PRESQUE ISLE – Ernestine (Cary) Buckley, 90, formerly of Warwick, R.I., went to be with the Lord, June 22, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 16, 1922, in Washburn, daughter of Everett and Flora (Kennard) Cary.
A 1939 graduate of Washburn High School, Ernestine attended Presque Isle Normal School – now University of Maine at Presque Isle, and Farmington Teachers College. She taught elementary school in Limestone and Caribou, and in Winsted and Manchester, Conn. She married Bartholomew “Bart” Buckley, in 1960 and they lived their entire married life in Warwick, R.I. Ernestine was a generous giver to the Lord’s work, to needy people throughout the world, and to her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband; sister-in-law, Gladys Cary; and niece, Jane Cary. She will remembered and missed by her brothers and their families. She is survived by Dwight and Leila Cary of Washburn and their son, Michael Cary and wife, Jane, of Wilmington, Vt., and their son, Robert Cary and wife, Nora, of Greensboro, N.C.; and Everett Cary of Caribou and special friend, Elaine Corey, and his children, Lynn and Richard Theriault of Caribou, Paul Cary and wife, Janet of Bangor. She was beloved and generous “Auntie” to great-nieces and great-nephews, Will and Kate Cary, Patrick Cary, Eric, Andrew and Evan Theriault, and Matthew Cary.
Friends may call 12:30-1 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where funeral services will begin 1 p.m. with Dr. Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating. Interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery, Crouseville. Online condolences may be expressed at
