AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage says applications are being accepted from candidates interested in serving as a District Court judge.
LePage says his Judicial Selection Committee is accepting applications until July 9. The vacancy to be filled is the result of the retirement of District Judge Jessie Gunther.
The person selected will likely be assigned to Ellsworth District Court. As a result, applications will be considered from candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance from Ellsworth.
The governor’s judicial appointees must be confirmed by the state Senate before they can be seated.

He must not have any relatives in that area, or they just dont want to move or relocate…LOL

Wait a minute now, this could be a trap, some people, myself included have stated him hiring his family has been unfair considering they don’t formally apply like you or I would, be interviewed, etc.
I think he already has a relative, and he wants to see how many people are stupid enough to apply for this, afterwards a relative will suddenly be hired for the job so this way here nobody can say to him that nobody got a fair chance to apply this time.
One good job just opened up. We can’t say LePage didn’t keep his campaign promise to create a job.

Personally, I think it is an excellent idea and may draw someone out who is capable of doing an excellent job. Governor LePage needs our appreciation when it is deserved. besides it’s a heck of a lot more fun than criticizing. ;)

I am not a LePage fan, yet do believe this was a good idea. All of our politicians would do a better job with a little more empathy instead of criticism. I do, don’t you? :)
Anyone who would want to serve in a corrupt department, should be suspect. Its supposed to be ‘Equal Justice for all’, but sadly its not, and the sheep of today ‘We The People’, just do not give a damn.
Judicial appointments are for 7 years and LePage will be sent packing in 2 years, so most of the term for this judge will be while someone who is NOT LePage is governor.

Having only lawyers run the courts is a recipe for disaster for us 99%.

Why are only lawyers allowed to apply for being a judge? or a district attorney general or state attorney general?
Because it is a military post and only generals need apply in this military judicial government.
