LINCOLN – Harlan Edwin Cole, 82, husband of Virginia “Gigy” (Whalen) Cole, passed away June 22, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 28, 1929, in Springfield, the son of Lawrence and Bessie (Pratt) Cole.

He spent two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harlan was married to Virginia for 64 years, was the best father two kids could ever ask for and was a really good grampie. Harlan worked as a mechanic for the local Ford garages for 32 years. He then worked in the woodlands department for Georgia Pacific for 15 years. He was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard A. Cole and his wife, Fiona; a daughter, Penny (Cole) Allen and her husband, Lester; five granddaughters, Katie Smith and her husband, Whitney, Andrea Cole, Elizabeth Cole, Rebecca Cole and Kylee Allen; a brother, Roger E. Cole and his wife, Jay; a niece, Karen Cole; a sister-in-law, Winnie Clemons; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.
