HAMPDEN and BANGOR – Simone M. Audet, 89, died June 22, 2012, at Winterberry Heights. She was born March 23, 1923, in Lac Megantic, Quebec, the daughter of Narcisse and Anna (Bolduc) Lamontagne.
Simone graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Jackman. She loved to cook and have her children with their families at her home during the holidays. Her knitting was a pastime that she enjoyed and made afghans for all her children and grandchildren. Simone was an active communicant in her faith and served the Daughters of Isabella as past regents in Jackman, Presque Isle and Bangor. She was a past president of Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed sewing and worked for the Cortell-Segal’s women’s clothing store for 17 years as a seamstress. Simone’s most rewarding work was with her son, Larry, and grandson, Joel, serving families at Greenlawn Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Patrick L. Audet Sr.; two sons, Patrick L. Audet Jr. and wife, Brenda, and children, Cherie, Patrick and Aimee, and Larry O. Audet and wife, Susan, and his son, Joel; two daughters, Susan M. Palmer and husband, Greg, and children, Anthony and Ashley, and Shirley Wolfe and husband, Mark, and children, Alex and Monique; five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; her dearest friend, Margaret L. Taintor; and one brother, Leo Lamontagne. She was predeceased by two brothers, Hector and Paul; and four sisters, Blanche, Bertha, Aldea and Beatrice. A special thank you to the staff of Winterberry Heights; and Jean Lane, R.N., of Beacon Hospice.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Interment will be in the family lot at Mount Hope Cemetery. Funeral services are entrusted to Joseph P. Kiley, funeral director, and staff.
