FARMINGTON, Maine — A Bangor man faces a harassment charge after he ignored police warnings about bothering residents in this town.
Sgt. Michael Adcock arrested Andrew Brachlow, 39, Saturday on a charge of harassment, Farmington Police Department secretary Rachel Heseltine said Monday.
Police first had contact this year with Brachlow late Friday. It was reported that he was following a woman and her young daughters while they were out for a walk on Farmington Falls Road.
Police told Brachlow, who was on a bicycle, that it was inappropriate to follow them, Heseltine said. He had gone up to them and they told him to go away, she said.
On Saturday, he confronted a woman in a private driveway on Fairbanks Road about 8:23 p.m. He started talking to her about wanting companionship, Heseltine said. The woman got back in her vehicle and locked the doors. Brachlow was on a bike then as well.
Police gave him a verbal warning.
About an hour later, Brachlow went up to a residence where a birthday party was being held for a 12-year-old girl and started talking to the girl and her friends. The mother called police, Heseltine said.
Farmington police have dealt with Brachlow in previous summers and have no idea why he comes to Farmington at that time of year.
Police called Bangor police, who said they have dealt with him in more than 20 incidents similar in nature, Heseltine said.

I live in Bangor and have dealt with this man many times.. he would hang out in my driveway riding in circles on his bike, he hangs out at the park by our house and my oldest son who is 17, chased him off twice, he talks to kids trying to get them to go home with him to read encyclopedia’s! A guy I dated got out of our car and chased him down after he wouldnt get off our street.. those are just a few of the times I have dealt with him. I’m sure the cops are sick of him, I guess they cant arrest him every time someone complains but he needs to understand he has to stay away from people, who knows what he is capable of?!
Does he walk like with a disability of some sort maybe polio or something smokes a pipe
No… always rides a bike, usually has on an orange and gray windbreaker jacket…. very very odd and DOES not take the hint when you tell him to go away! But he can move fast when he knows someone is gonna chase him down.
IIs this the guy who rides like a banana bike does or used to smoke a pipe ?
This is one of those situations where, if someone doesn’t find a way to get this guy off the street, we’re going to be reading about a murder or a rape. Obviously the police must work within the confines of the law, but there must be a way to lock this guy up or maybe run him through a tree shredder.
He obviously has some sort of problem.
Parents in Bangor and Farmington take notice and watch your children. This man probably has severe mental disease and does not make rational decisions. My guess, this will not be the last time we read about him in the paper. Some parents have become too slack in their vigilance for their children. Take note if you live in the area and don’t take your eyes off your children. This is one crazy world we live in and your kids are trying to survive in it. This man may not receive the help he needs before his desire for companionship causes him to harm someone, child or adult.
This is why I tell my children not to talk to anyone they dont know and to come get me, their father or the adult in charge at once. You just don’t know about people anymore. I’ve also taught my girls to scream at the top of their lungs if they feel uncomfortable in anyway. Thank god they have never had to do this, may be because I don’t let them out of my sight for more than 2 minutes.
Is there a legal way to put him in protective custody for a psychiatric/dangerousness evaluation?
it would be nice to have a picture so we know who to watch out for, who knows where he will turn up next, sounds like a very unbalanced individual

Thank You!
I’ve also seen him in Searsport/Belfast riding his bike in circles in the parking lots of stores talking to people.
From BDN court news May 16-20, 2011: Andrew Brachlow, 38, Bangor, refusing to submit to arrest or detention; criminal trespass; disorderly conduct; criminal restraint; all dismissed.
Why were the charges dismissed? And how is this man getting from Bangor to Farmington to Searsport? On his bike, or is he getting help to move along? He is going to end up getting pepper sprayed or worse one of these days.
This tells me that he may be incompetent and unable to stand trial…doent mean he isnt capable of doing harm!
It sounds like Law Enforcements hands are tied. Maybe DHHS (Adult Protective) may want to get involved…someone needs to be PROACTIVE here so we’re not being REACTIVE when someone gets seriously hurt!!!
If someone could answer my questions I might be able to calm some of ya if its who I think it is he is harmless been around since the 70s. When I worked downtown on main st
Been around since the 70’s? He’s 39, was he bothering people while riding his Big Wheel back then?
calm me this man followed my daughter to her home. This was after he was kicked of the bus for grabbing a women. Bangor police seem to not care at all he will be right back in bangor again and they will do nothing about it.One of these times he is going to touch the wrong women and get the crap beatten out of him. So i guess if it was your teenage daughter he could follow her around and try to grab her breast and this is alright.
What the hell is wrong with this guy? Way beyond creepy or lonely…..
Someone started a facebook page about him awhile ago. ( I think its the same person)

What’s “wrong with this guy” is that he is probably off his medication and isn’t even aware of what he is doing . He’s lonely and quite possibly even homeless. Bipolar gone untreated can turn to schizophrenia, and he could be one of the individuals that were let out of an institution because of lack of funding. Eventually we will have to deal with people like this, but it’s sad that he doesn’t know what to do in his life or have someone watching over him.
He can get away from it in Bangor but not in Farmington
this guy followed me all around kmart in bangor to where i had to ask the cashier to stall him so i can leave. he was kicked out of target for following women around. he also followed a lady out to her car at kmart and wouldnt let her drive away.. he creeped me out asking me all kinds of questions and for my number and if he could be my boyfriend.. when it all comes down to it this man has a mental disability and you can surly tell .. he needs to be in a supported home with eyes on in the coommunity..
Thanks for the pics not the guy I was thinking of this is a winner for sure
Touches my tata’s on the bus, bus driver kicks him off, and he follows me home then a week later does it again. Then he does the same thing to my friend, but she was on her bike. This has been going on for years now. I don’t see why Bangor police won’t do anything about him but the Farmington police will. Good job Farmington police for actually doing your job.
Andrew the bike stalker, your days are done.
my friend used to work at kokopelies in the airport mall and he used to buy knifes and sex toys and he’s harassing women. he obviously isn’t safe.
