BELFAST – Ruth C. Sherwood, 91, died June 20, 2012, at her residence. She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Milford, daughter of Raymond and Ida (Grant) McLaughlin.

She will be deeply missed by her family to whom she devoted most of her life. She loved her family, and was always calling and making sure everyone was okay. She was a member of Unity Ladies Auxiliary No. 50. She loved playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and watching any movie with John Wayne.

She was predeceased by her husband, Woodie Sr.; mother and father; brother, Charles; and sister, Pauline. Survivors include her children, Lucy Curtis of Orono, Pauline White of Missouri, Robert Richardson of Dexter, Frank and Raymond Richardson, both of Missouri, Ida Higgins of Lagrange, Woodie of Bradford and Cathy Harriman of Belfast; three sisters, Sadie Ogden of Cardville, Flora Ogden of Bangor and Alice Porter of Connecticut; 29 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a few great-great-grandchildren; and a special granddaughter, Athena Harriman.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, at LaSalle Cemetery, Searsmont. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Online condolences may be offered to the family at
