EAST MILLINOCKET – Ora Glidden, 90, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born April 25, 1922, in East Millinocket, the son of Melvin and Edith (Perry) Glidden.
Ora was educated in East Millinocket schools, and was a 42-year employee of Great Northern Paper Co., where he was an electrician. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Ora retired in 1980 and belonged to East Millinocket Veterans Club.
He is survived by three children, David Glidden of Millinocket, Patty Pine and her husband, Steve, of Lincoln and Dennis Glidden and his wife, Wendy, of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Melvin and Mindy of Bangor, Tracy and Terry, Corey and Melissa, and Tim and Amanda; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Perrow of Millinocket; a sister-in-law, Neanie Sawyer of Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ora will also be missed by two special friends, Donny Murray and Ray Pasanen. Ora was predeceased by his wife, Idella (Russell) Glidden; a son, E. Melvin Glidden; a daughter-in-law, Patty Glidden; 12 brothers and three sisters.
Friends are invited to visit with the family noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, 11 Maple St., East Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
