MILBRIDGE, Maine — The man killed Saturday evening when a truck struck a tree on Wyman Road was the vehicle’s driver, according to an accident investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which was reported at 7:01 p.m. June 30.
Jared Dorr, 21, of Milbridge died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor from injuries from the crash.
Two other occupants of the 2004 GMC pickup also were injured: Jason Redimarker, 19, of Addison and Owen Fickett, 25, of Cherryfield.
The truck was traveling north on Wyman Road when Dorr failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to the investigation. The truck slid off the roadway, struck a large hardwood tree, and rolled over, ejecting Dorr from the vehicle.
The truck came to rest on its passenger side, pinning Dorr under the vehicle, police believe. Witnesses to the crash and others at the scene helped pull Dorr free of the vehicle.
Police do not believe any of the truck’s occupants were wearing seat belts.
All three men were taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Dorr was then transported by LifeFlight helicopter to EMMC, where he was pronounced dead in that facility’s emergency room.
Redimarker also was transported to EMMC, where he remains a patient. Fickett was treated and released from Maine Coast Memorial on Sunday, according to the statement.

Although this was a mistake that should have been avoided, a life was lost.. I pray for my cousins and friends who lost someone close to them. I pray for the families of all involved. May this remind us all to be more responsible if we drink.. especially as we have the 4th of July celebrations coming up..
Thoughts and prayers go out to all family friends and classmates of these gentlemen.
wait wait we should ban vehicles because someone died, i mean that is all we every hear is someone got hurt with a gun, knife or fireworks ban them. Where are all the calls to ban car and trucks becuase number of accidents.
Seatbelts……I believe in them. Condolences to the family. So sad, so young.
in response to BRETT:
Peoples opinions on such a tragedy are very irrelivant. NOONE wants to hear about statistics and how this could have been avoided. A family lost someone important to them none the less. A child will have to grow up not knowing their father. Put yourself in their shoes, keep your statistics and ignorance to yourself.
Alcohal should be banned , but it has been around for years and is still killing, and it will continue to , some people get by till there natural death and as m yson got killed by a drunk driver walking along the road 5 years ago at 27 years old there will be one killed by this driver consuming to much at a bar and driving home 65 in a 45 mile zone claiming my son was in the middle of the road walking , ha sht, how did she know if you can tsee some thing in the middle of the road you should not be driving . and the law let her free without any loss of lisense still driving . guess my sons fault but I was told that when you are driving a veichle you are responsible for pedestrians children and bike riders but not in handcock county it makes a difference who you are. again she was drinking and driving mind altering not paying attention . she should never be driving again . and the 5 hour drink monster drink and alcohah is going to keep on killing . our beatiful usa should say this buds for you a little more on tv adveryise it more spend all there money promoting this drug and alcoah substance , I drank also and drove as well but lukily never hurt any one and never had an accident , but I despise alcohal it ha skilled mor eof my family than any one would believe , and this monster drink legal to by is killing people slowly anxiaty will over take them sooner or later and it is a bad way to go . sure we will all die one way or another so it is hard to put the blame all on two or three items but , these could have been prevented like detecting some cancers in time but sorry it did not .
