CHERRYFIELD – David L. Livingstone, 73, went home to be with the Lord, June 30, 2012, after a recent illness. David was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Charlestown, Mass., to the late Dorothy and Franklin Livingstone.
He grew up in Montville and entered the U.S. Navy at age 17. Returning to Maine, David graduated from Crosby High School, Belfast. He worked seasonally for five years for Maine Forestry Service as a fire tower watchman. He graduated in 1970 from Maritime Forest Ranger School, Fredericton, New Brunswick. Continuing his service with Maine Forestry Service for 27 years, David retired as a district forest ranger in Cherryfield. He was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church of Cherryfield, a Cherryfield selectman, a third degree Mason, a master Maine guide, piloted his own Taylorcraft L-2 which he restored, a real estate broker, blueberry lease holder and owner/operator of his own blueberry harvesters. David loved the outdoors and often spent his time hunting, fly fishing and trapping.
David was the beloved husband of Shirley Livingstone for 51 years. He was a wonderful father to his three children, Daniel Livingstone and wife, Kim, of Bangor, Grace Kennedy and husband, Paul, of Milbridge, and Peter Livingstone and wife, Deborah, of Windham, N.H. Grandchildren are Sarah, Seth and John Livingstone, all of Bangor, Kyle, Nick and Kelli Kennedy, all of Milbridge, and Taryn and Cameron Livingstone, both of Windham, N.H. David is survived by six sisters and a brother, Faith and Don Garrold of Searsport, Toni and Jesse Clark of Liberty, Dorothy and Eugene Wyman of Liberty, Sally and Bill Bailey of Lewiston, Janet Ranco of Bangor, Denise and Andy Saller of Olympia, Wash., and Douglas Wood of Clinton. He also leaves brothers-in-law, Charles and Susan Pattershall of Augusta, and Richard Pattershall of Swanville. He was predeceased by his mother and father; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grace and Curtis Pattershall; special granddaughter, Jillian Kennedy of Milbridge; sister, Katherine Hamel; and brother-in-law, Mike Sockalexis.
A service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at First Baptist Church of Cherryfield, Main Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s memory to Jillian S.
