GILEAD, Maine — First lady Ann LePage will join 100 Maine military children at camp next week, Capt. Shanon Cotta, spokesman for the Maine Army National Guard, said in a press release.
Operation Military Kids, for children of Maine National Guard members, will be held July 9 at the Bog Brook Training Area in Gilead, located about eight miles west of Bethel.
“The National Guard child and youth program is one of the most supportive networks offered by the military,” Cotta said. “It addresses the needs of our military youth by offering safe activities, a place to meet, talk and have fun with other children who understand the unique issues that face military kids today. The program is led by experienced and trained adults who have a direct link with the military family program.”
In addition to the children, about 30 military spouses and 50 military members also will take part in camp activities.
