CARMEL – Ernest C. Hand, 95, died July 2, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Hodgdon, a son of John and Edith (Tracy) Hand.

Ernest was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and belonged to American Legion Post No. 107 for 68 years. He worked many years with the railroad and also enjoyed farming his land in Carmel. Ernest was a kind and generous man.

He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Richard Cormier of Gray; two grandsons, Patrick Murphy and his wife, Lori, and their son, Jackson, all of Hampden and Michael Cormier of Augusta; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen “Kay” Hand, in 2005.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel, with Pastor Lunette George officiating.
