BANGOR, Maine — A local man who was arrested on the Fourth of July after he called 911 from a home he had broken into because he thought dogs were chasing him pleaded guilty Thursday, authorities said.
At about 7 p.m. Wednesday, dispatchers received a call from Marcus McCall, 36, who said he was calling from an Ohio Street residence he had entered in an attempt to escape the pursuing dogs, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.
Officers Josh Kuhn and John Robinson responded to the residence and spoke to McCall, who was cooperative, according to Edwards. McCall told Kuhn and Robinson that he believed drug cartel agents were trying to kill him and were using dogs to track him as he ran through the woods alongside the Kenduskeag Stream, the sergeant said.
The officers found a smashed window in the house but nothing had been taken, Edwards said.
Police could not confirm McCall’s claims and arrested him. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
McCall pleaded guilty Thursday at the Penobscot Judicial Center to criminal trespass and criminal mischief, according to Assistant District Attorney Brendan Trainor.
McCall was fined $250 for each offense and ordered to pay up to $500 in restitution to repair a door he damaged at the residence.
Trainor said McCall told police he had not taken anti-paranoia medication he had been prescribed.

Rocket Science
Once upon a time——I will pretend to be confused. Its not like I really just broke into the house to rob it. Why would drug cartels be after you Mr. McCall????
Brilliant.
He should end up on that show “Worlds dumbest criminals.”
he wasnt breaking into to steal anything he had a bout of paranoia from not taking his meds.
What’s up with those weak charges. Criminal mischief and criminal trespass? What about breaking and entering, or burglary. Couldn’t they charge him with something that carries a little more weight than that?
A charge of burglary requires the State to prove that he entered with the intent to commit a crime inside. From what the article says, it doesn’t seem they’d be able to prove that second component, hence the misdemeanor charges.
Paranoia, people / animals chasing him… sounds like bath salts.
Yeah but what about breaking and entering? My problem with it is Criminal mischief and criminal trespass sounds like something they would charge some little idiot with that was spray painting an over pass or something like that. This guy broke into someones house for crying out loud. The dogs chasing him is way out there. Too bad there hadn’t been half a dozen Rotwielers in the house when he got in there.
Exactly. Pretty clear scenario. Let’s see….I am going to bust into your house then say dogs were chasing me after I get caught, find no meds in your cabinet, guns in the closet, cash in your wallet, keys to your car, jewlery in your box, etc.. Bad excuse.
Any bets if this is this guys first violation of the law. I like the “for crying out loud” part of your comment. I don’t hear that much anymore. You should be upset, this is dog do.do.
Boy, this guy looks familiar.
“Yeah but what about breaking and entering?”
It’s pretty hard for the state to charge someone with a crime that doesn’t exist.
As ryanrobbins said, there’s no such animal. There’s burglary, or criminal mischief (damaging property that isn’t yours) and criminal trespass (entering property when you have no right to do so). Those two misdemeanors combined cover the “breaking and entering”.
why would he break in and call 911? and admit to everything? and plead guilty?
He had a mental break. While potentially dangerous to others it seems pretty obvious he never had malicious intent.
Soooooo….who let the dogs out??

Hey, some people just don’t like dogs. Boy, tough day. He should just chill, have a drink and smoke a cigar. The orange looks good on the man though. He looks like someone I met once. Mmmm, I’ll think of it.
Anywho, if someone breaks into my home thy get shot with intent to kill, not harm. This guy should consider himself lucky he didn’t break into my home. The wife would have been woken by a loud BANG.
Not taking the anti-paranoia meds? It’s pretty sad that the innocent victims are going to have to start taking stuff like that if this keeps up. I’m not paranoid, just ready, prepared.
I wish every able bodied non criminal had the funds to put in a security alarm. They are a life saver, for real. Then if it goes off, snap the safety off and do what needs to be done.
I agree with you, totally……..especially your last paragraph. :)
although I agree with you about defending one’s home your lack of empathy although not surprising is always disheartening. If someone frantically breaks down my and I am home sleeping I wouldnt hesitate to line up my sight picture. However, regardless of what the laws are you gotta make that last split second decision to pull the trigger or not. Having someone break into your house in the middle of the night is a scary traumatic experience however not every wrongful entry needs to result in the use of lethal force.
Your comment about innocent people taking paranoia medication is a callous off based remark. This guy probably has some form of schizophrenia which is sad but fairly rare. Had he been taking his meds responsibly this probably wouldnt have happened. However, that is the problem with psychotropic medication soon as a patient feels they are doing better they are inclined to stop taking it.
He broke into an unoccupied home and no serious damage was done and he is going to pay for it. Had it been my home and he would pay for the damage and assuming he didnt let my cat out or something unfortunate I doubt I would press charges.
I disagree with your last paragraph especially. The “shoot first, ask questions later” mentality is what gives lawful gun ownership a bad rep. Take time to identify a threat.
You do that. I will always protect my family before I ask their method on how one plans to attack or kill me and my family. I hope there isn’t a TB IV.
That is not what I am saying. Did I say I will seek to verbally address and communicate with a possible threat? Sometimes a verbal assessment is needed but in cases like mine keeping a flashlight permanently attached to your weapon system be it handgun or shotgun makes positive threat ID faster and safer.
Do you know who Massad Ayoob is?
Bath salts? IDK.
Bath salts Ohio Street go hand in hand
thats one dumb dude
Stupid is, as stupid does.
ha-ha,,,,,,, here, here is your sign.
That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever read!
////\\
I hope the press does not “hound” him as his case works it’s way through the court system.
WHADDUP DOG!
He was running along the Kenduskeag Stream because he heard there was giant weed http://bangor-launch.newspackstaging.com/2012/07/04/news/bangor/giant-hogweed-infestation-in-bangor-could-spread-to-kenduskeag-stream-expert-says/
” A Bangor man”. Really?
…yes, really.
Got a problem with that?
Problem with what?
You trying to say that just because he’s black, he can’t be a “Bangor man”?? If that’s not what you were trying to insinuate, then just what was your comment about??
That he is not a bangor resident and in fact a transient?
There’s that damn racist angle again. Tell me this; If only 1% of Bangor’s population is black, how come there are so many of them in the court news?
I know it is considered “racist” to ask this question, but it would be nice to have an answer instead of a bunch of outrage. There are a disproportionate number of black criminals in the news.
Oh yea, he’s originally from Millinocket, can’t you tell.
Officedr Kuhn huh? Must be new. I haven’t read about an officer Kuhn before.
I think Marcus needs to go bark up another tree…..cuz no one’s biting on that one! :P
That’s too bad, Marcus you were always polite to me. Effing bath salts.
People, the article said he hadn’t taken his anti-paranoia medication…he literally believed dogs were after him. Can you imagine trying to live with delusions and hallucinations? I think it’s actually pretty sad. They said he was cooperative and didn’t steal anything. And you all are sitting here making fun of him and automatically accusing him of using bath salts. Poor guy.
some people just lack human empathy.
It is fortunent the house was unoccupied because a $500.00 door could have turned into a 500000 wrongful death lawsuit if bushfan shot him.
LOL. We should negotiate with terrorists too. Pfftttttttt.
we should just wholesale slaughter all the mentally ill and handicap.
we can dress them up in animal costumes and let them run around a field and shoot at them.
Not shooting a trespasser on sight is a little different then negotiating with terrorists.
I’m not for wholesale slaughter of mentally ill folks… Just those (mentally ill or not) who break into houses and destroy property. There is a law in Maine that allows farmers to shoot “pests” Maybe it should be enhanced.
Why don’t you bring him home with you and treat him with compassion?
