BANGOR, Maine — Police are looking for a female suspect involved in a Fourth of July stabbing that occurred near the Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street.

During the fireworks show over the Penobscot River, officers responded around 9:45 p.m. to reports of two women who were fighting.

At some point during the fight, a third female intervened, pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the women — once in the back and once in the chest, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

She is described as a “rugged” white female with curly, shoulder-length red hair. She was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants at the time of the fight, according to police.

The victim in the stabbing is an 18-year-old woman from Bangor, according to Edwards, who said her injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening.

A 42-year-old Glenburn man tried to stop the assault and was cut on the hand, Edwards said.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident is asked to call Bangor police Detective Jim Carr at 947-7382. Those who wish to remain anonymous may press 6 to use the tip line.

  1. To the fellow in Glenburn nice to know there’s  a few people out there that have the moral inclination to do the right thing. A hero!

  2. ………and “No”, Skowhegan Resident.  You can’t count this as a fireworks related injury.

        1.  it was satirical. obviously we dont live in a 1930/40s fascist German internment community.

I was implying that a once low crime peaceful small urban/suburban area is beginning to look a lot like other low socio-economic area’s in the country. Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, Atlanta, etc.

Glad your proud to be from bangor , I am not proud of the state of this city. Our community values are shot and the general sense of security that came with those values.

          1.  I spent a lot of time in Schenectady/Albany NY. Bangor reminds me a lot of these places just more white people instead of guyanese lol.

          2.  I said beginning to look like… not is like or is now… yeh obviously this isnt nearly as bad as d.c./Baltimore lol.

  3. It appears that a knife is now the weapon of choice!!–What has happened to people?–The women are every bit as bad as the men, and it’s truly disgusting, which ever sex is doing this stuff!!

  4. go figure another stabbing a block from the homeless shelter. That side of town is shady.

also a stones throw from the bangor PD HQ haha.

  5. What kind of life are these girls living that they are STABBING each other at 18 years old?  It isn’t too late to straighten out, clean up ladies.

    1. Whatever happened to an old-fashioned slap fight with some occassional hair pulling?  Not that I’m condoning either, but it’s pretty bad that females are getting as stupid as men with their level of violence.

        1. High school was about 20 years ago, and at least at my school you’d rarely see a punch thrown during a girl fight!  Lots of rolling around and hair pulling was about it.  People tended to walk away in the middle because they thought it was “boring”.

      1. When I was 18 I was so afraid of doing something to embarrass my family, make my employer question my ethics, or my school regret accepting me.  Isn’t being responsible “cool” anymore?

        1. Nope.  People don’t care because there are so few jobs out there that even the managers don’t want to pi** anyone off by calling them out on their bad behavior and risk losing their job, too.  (well that, and there are lots of spineless supervisors out there who never should have gotten the job to begin with.)

  6. Manna, Homeless Shelter, Hope House, Shaw House, 3 methadone clinics all of these places enable this type of behavior, we should not be surprised, we allowed it and this is the results.

    1. i’m beyond positive that we had stabbings, shootings, murders, fights and E V E R Y T H I N G else L O N G before the methadone clinics, and before all the other facilities you named off that make it so people can have a roof over their heads, meals and safe place to sleep has nothing or little to do with it. the problem is lack of parenting growning up, a huge amount of iggnorance and a lack of value for the human life…

      1.  and its funny you talk about the lack of value of human life. Why should we value a human life of a human who doesnt value themselves? which is evident by the use of excessive drug and alcohol use. A lack of motivation to better themselves through education, employement, community service, military service, peace corp service etc. A continued and blind dependence on others to live? Worst of all the inability to act like adults and discuss disagreements, to parent the offspring they created by being irresponsible with their genetic material…

What value is there in that life?

          1. Talk about using a “broad brush” saying “typical republican argument”? You dare cry foul whilst your bias shines through.

          2.  Life has value because value is assigned to it. Its not inherently sacred. But yeah, there’s lots of ignorant people who populate this site. The problems is everyone has all the answer and not enough questions.

          3. 2/3rds correct. All the answers, not enough questions but also………not enough education.

          4. Sad isn’t it. It seems that the libs and dems are so welcoming to all, so they claim, but they sure do display their bias towards republicans and conservatives. It is more disgusting then any republican or conservative view I know. That’s a broad brush but true.

          5. When the grid goes down we will all turn on each other anyway. Its the nature of the beast.

          6. Yes I do view people as below me. I will not hide it or deny it. You can’t make me feel ashamed for the way I feel. Even though I may view some as below me I treat everyone with respect and dignity. There are some above me. People who are smarter or stronger, who are better at more or different things then me and those people I treat with the same respect and dignity and expect the same in return. I don’t believe we live in a solid class system and those who wish to better themselves can do so, I don’t mean exclusively mean through financial means, education is the single greatest wealth one can build for themselves be it formal or informal. Going to college or searching through stacks at the Bangor public library.

        1. Every human life should be valued because if it is not it may give someone pause to think it’s okay to just snuff out the life of someone “they” don’t see as fit to be around. No one is born with a wish to destroy their own life.

          1. Woahhhhhhh, now there is no place for talk like that. C’mon, you know it’s only us crazy republicans that value all human life.

          2.  yet republicans spearhead global wars that kill hundreds of thousands of people?

          3. Got to get to the evil doers before they get to us, remember 9/11? I do. Plus, congress has voted on many of those “spearheaded wars”.

          4.  3000 people died on 9/11. we have lost twice that since we went to “war” and slaughtered hundreds of thousands of people in the last 10 years. Congress did not declare war in 2001.

I won’t go so far as to say 9/11 was an inside job but it was a sloppy job at reading que’s. people knew it was coming it wasnt a big surprise something like that happened. What purpose does 180 military bases around the world serve beside spreading debt and death?

Pull our troops back into our sovereign lands. With the money saved on operating 180+ international bases provide our armed forces with the best training and equipment. If the so called “evil doers” still want to try and kill us after we have left their lands let them come.

You don’t like the idea of welfare I assume? you think people should take personal responsibility for their lives? That government doesn’t need to help people run their lives?

So how is that different than policing the world and preemptive wars? A strong national defense is not an international offense.

          5. Yes, that includes the unborn, but that being said I don’t believe that people choose to have an abortion because they think  their unborn child has no value. Like it or not, people still have the constitutional right to make that decision themselves and it should stay that way. I am pro choice, which does not mean I am pro abortion. Such a decision is extremely personal and is made for a number of reasons and something that will stay with that person for the rest of their life . If someone in your family or mine has to make that choice then it’s nobody elses damned business and that includes the government. People who oppose someones right to make that decision based on their religious beliefs need to remember that other people’s religions may allow them to make that decision for themselves. Some people are big on constitutional rights when it benefits them but think it’s okay to take other peoples rights away if they disagree with their life choices. Are you one of them?

          6. Can you name even one religion that condones abortion for ANY reason? I can only think of one The Religion of Progressive.
I do not agree with the dening ANYONE their rights, but I do oppose the creation of Rights that do not exist. I define a Right as something that you have inherintly have as a condition of being a human being.
A right is not granted by any human or human institution, if a “Right” is given to someone else it is a priviledge.
Now if the Government wants to give people the Priviledge to have abortions I have no issue with it beyond the fact that I feel it is wrong. I would not stop the person from undergoing the procedure. I would not be willing to fund the procedure.

      2. Safe place to sleep! At the shelter where the transients sleep, if I recall correctly and I do, the two recent stabbings were committed by transients one resulting in a death. I think I would sleep with one eye open.

      3. You had me right up to the parenting factor.  I am so truly sick and tired of everyone throwing the parents under the bus.  The people involved in this were all adults.  Once adult, we all know the law and what is right.  Please, if you want to bring out a certain group of parents, then fine, but dont use it in a generalized manner and say all parenting….Thank You.

        1.  I don’t believe that is true jeff. Behavior is learned from the second you come out of the womb. I you have a terrible abusive childhood you are very likely to repeat that abuse with your children. If you teach your children that cops are pigs and its ok to lie cheat and steal they will continue that into their adult lives. I feel very strongly that my mindset and the way I live my life is reflective of how my parents raised me.

I don’t blame the parents when a 30 year old man kills another person you are right he is an adult and is responsible for his own actions. However where did that behavior come from? that behavior to not control emotions or limit how drunk you get?

          1. Well my wife and I have been married for 23 years.  We raised two boys.  One is in PCJ for as most of you know, stealing two cars while drinking and running from the police.  He has proven time and time again that he cannot handle is alchohol and has no business consuming it.  His older brother has an occasional beer, never been arrested and works very hard for what he has.  He is kind of gothic but that would be about the only thing one might find wrong with him.  Both are polite, friendly and sometimes too trusting, just as their mother and father are.  They know right from wrong.  The wife and I enjoyed going to the club when we were younger and dancing, but we grew out of it fairly early in their lives.  Now we actually watch live bands at clubs, with a DD Ice Coffee in our hands and we still have a great time. We are affectionate, and never say good-bye without first letting them know how much we love them.  To me, that is the mark of good parenting.  We cannot control the people they choose to hang around.  They are now adults, and even when they were still teens, we both worked to provide for them.  Many parents have to now.  When my son got involved with the wrong people we told him to stay clear of any of them, but he would lie to us and tell us he was at the mall or at other friends houses.  He was smart enough to never come home under the influence.  One day we find the pipe, trace elements in his backpack, we call the police, and they say there isnt enough there to do anything about it.  We tell our son that we will not accept him using any substances.  We tell him that if he needs to do that, then he cannot live under our roof. He chose to go, he came back and he lied some more, ran away, and spent the next four years in and out of juvie.  We tried Acadia SIX times…We tried lock-down treatment centers, such as Stetson Ranch. We dont condone the mistakes he has made but we still love him.  We always will.  I wouldnt bail him out, or hide him or tell him that the things he has done are ok.  But we still love him.
I guess if that makes us bad parents, well then i guess i will have to plead Guilty…I dont believe that I am, but I know many out there that drink with their underage kids, smoke with them, and live in a state of Denial that thier precious youngster would never do anything wrong.  I still think that generalizing the idea of blaming parents for their children’s mistakes is unfair, but I guess i will let you believe what you want

        2. I can certainly see why you would have an issue with that. I do agree with you somewhat, although I do think bad parenting or lack of any at all, leads to a lot of problems, there certainly are those out there that are just bad seeds and dear old mom and dad can do nothing. I am guessing that is where you feel you are catagorized.

    2. Hey, I think all the places you mention do not help the problem but I also think people in Bangor are exagerrating a little. This stuff has been going on since before the Brady Gang, it is just reported differently. Now the reporters are all looking for Drama Stories so they can get promoted, ratings, peer envy and so on. Plus the art of social media and real time news makes it so that everytime you hit “refresh” on the site, bang, new stories of local drama. Big Deal.

I would argue as well that there is less violence today in the city than there was 20 years ago and I have reasons for that comment, I’m just not going to make the case now, dinner is getting cold.

      1.  that is an interesting assertion. I was 6 years old 20 years ago and only came to bangor for school shopping or to see the occasional movie at hoyts.

I think media does look for sensational stories and with the american obsession for violence stories like this stabbing go right to the front page.

    3.  You just lump them all together. Actually it would be much worse without these services

    4.  Yea because alcohol is never to blame in Maine, lmao. Pretty sure most under the influence violence in Maine stems from Alcohol and not narcotics, I would actually put money on that.

    5. Go to bigger cities and you will find this to be an hourly event. Relax, breathe and enjoy other things.

  7. We were trying to watch the fireworks nearby when this occurred. Between the stabbing and all the whacked out people on drugs, we didn’t really need the fireworks for an entertaining show. Thanks Citizens of Bangor, Maine for keepin’ it classy!

    1. WE SAW ALL THAT ALSO. a LOT OF IGNORANT PEOPLE THERE. nEED TO GET PEOPLE OFF mETHADONE AND THE STATE AND PUT THEM TO WORK .

      1. Did you not glance at your comment before you hit the “Post” button???  How do you have caps lock on and not realize it.  Seeing stuff like this just irritates me…

          1. All Caps is only slightly less annoying, and the ignorance of their caps being on is where most of the annoyance stems from.  This person obviously didn’t know… they took the time to “Capitalize” the first letter of their sentence.
But it’s nice to see people who enjoy ticking others off and being purposefully irritating to others.  Fun Fact: People like you are refereed to as “trolls”.

      2.  Assuming that going to work and putting people to work is going to solve anything is the height of ignorance. A job means nothing, really. Lots of people have jobs. Doesnt make them less ignorant, the case could be argued perhaps more ignorant then people who don’t have jobs. And by that, I dont mean homeless people or whatever. I mean people who OWN jobs. Its a sad mentality that of the worker bee.

      3. Hey, there is this button on your keyboard, it reads “Caps Lock” sometimes it even has an upper case A on it!! You should try turning that off some time, its a whole new typing experience.

  8. This year our family avoided the fireworks, we usually stand on the JC bridge, but were invited to a friend’s house instead and I remember thinking watch some monkey duster’s going to freak out on the bridge or something. Shocked to see it’s a female stabbing. Sad to see so much bad stuff happening in Bangor.

  9. THE NEWS DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT INFORMATION MAYBE THEY SHOULD INVESTIGATE BEFORE PUTTING NO FACT WHAT SO EVER SO THE WHOLE STATE OF MAINE CAN FIGHT OVER WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG. YOU ALL ARE IGNORANT FOR BELIEVING WHAT YOU READ OR HEAR ON THE NEWS. LOOK HOW FOWL YOU ALL ARE I FEEL LIKE I AM IN A MENTAL WARD WITH ALL THIS TRASH TALK. YOU ALL NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE JUDGING ANYONE. AMERICA FREEDOM OF SPEECH. THERE IS ENOUGH HATE IN THIS WORLD WITHOUT THIS CRAP YOU ALL NEED TO GROW UP. IGNORANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Hey Wendy. I’m with ya. It seems like you are upset, don’t be, look at the source of the critism. C’mon, people on this site don’t even have the stones to give out their name, most are unemployed, most have never had a job or anything and are living in the parents basement.

Personally, I have an illness that forces me to write. My illness is that I like communicating with numb people, where better to do that then here? I mean really.

    2. Wendy, please do not capitalize ( no pun intended) on these acts of violence by young people in order to place blame on others, such as the media. The fact is, a young woman stabbed another young woman. PERIOD. Concerning your choice of words..fowl? did you mean “chicken”  or did you mean “foul” as is this is not a cool way to feel?

    3. I understand that you are mad because one of you relatives was named earlier in post as the person who stabbed the other girl. Dont worry there is a video of everything. I did not read it on here my daughter told me and most teens in bangor already know all who were involved, its not a secret . The video will tell the truth, I have no idea what really happened and neither does anyone who was not there.

      1. B? AS is Bush? I like it. Yep, video is everywhere. I hope the girl that took the wound is ok and the one that did it says sorry. A little remorse goes a long way.

  10. she was stabbed in the back an in the neck not the chest…she is my cousin…an we have video of the fight that was takin from a bystander an a good look at the girl who stabbed my cousin..you might as well turn yourself in….AND FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW THESES GIRLS…WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE…IT WOULD BE LIKE ME SAYING YOUR A WORTHLESS PARENT/PERSON ON THIS PLANET JUST CAUSE I DON’T KNOW YOU…YOU DON’T KNOW HOW THESE GIRLS WERE BROUGHT UP AN THE STRUGGLES THEY HAVE HAD GROWING UP..SO WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE…GROW UP

    1.  Oh I see……The old everyone is a victim and not responsible for their actions.Everyone has struggles in life but deal with them differently.BOO HOO!

      1. i agree to handle the situation differently… not saying what was done was right..I meant comments dissing the girls. they don’t know there background… but im not on here to stoop down to others levels an talk smack..I made my point an others can take it how they want

  11. This is horizontal violence where poor, desperate people are violent towards other poor desperate people.  Many have some kind of mental illness or trama. This stuff has been happening forever and believe it or not it was even worse in the good old days before services. I know some like to think that there once was a Leave it to Beaver world where everything was really swell, but it just wasn’t so.

    1. Did’nt believe it, so I looked up the stats, it was not worse. Check it out yourself, threats of it would only get worse, are just empty threats.

    1. The fireworks show in Bangor has been happening for decades and contains much larger fireworks than private citizens are permitted to possess. The big fireworks shows require special permits and are created by professionals…entirely different than Maine’s new fireworks law, which allows certain fireworks to be sold to consumers.

  12.   I am not sure that methadone is completely to blame. I know of a few
people on that crap and they don’t act like these idiots. They are below
intelligence and lack in morals. They are 12 year old minds in 30 plus
year old bodies. They have nothing better to do, hang out with the same
species of their kind, and are raising their offspring to know nothing
better. Maybe drugs, maybe not but I have the unfortunate experience of
meeting these people every weekend and have firsthand knowledge of the
    sad lives they live.

  13. Sodom and Bangorrah..

The city has deteriorated greatly in the past five years. Rock music at the waterfront, “The Entertainment Corridor,” the Casino…

    You have become wicked, Bangor!

And it is going to get much worse.

Wife-beating, drug-dealing, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, greed, junk art, junk music and junk religion….

And what happened to your most trusted and respected public figure?

Did he jump off a bridge because he was living a lie?

By mid-August Bangor will see its first zombie attacks.

Sex, drugs, and Rock music have opened the gates of Hell.

      1. Correct.

Country music is no longer country music.

Country music is now a form of Rock and Roll because of the syncopated beat and mindless wailing.

There are few aspects of American culture which have not been polluted.

  14. WOW!  this is good redneck reading.

i bet i am the only poster here that does
not have a tattoo over my butt

youse people in bangor keep postin, i am
    equally laughing at all sides

  15. I am sure there are many people that know who this person is.  Please dont cover for her.  Please dont hide her.  Make her pay the penalty for the crime she commited.  This is NOT your friend.  If she could stab this person, depending on the circumstances, she could also stab YOU…get her in jail quickly before she truly kills someone.

    1. I don’t agree with all your posts and I am sure you don’t mine (although you should) but I do appreciate the trials you have had to go through with jr. Therefore, when you post comments like this I know you have experience on the subject. I agree, dime this girl out so we can put her away before she harms another.

  16. To everyone that says we are still so lucky to live in bangor I agree….lol not…it is amazing what bangor has become In a few short years

  17. It’s not republican or democrat here people. It is about the rise in violent crimes in our beloved city. Yes rise of drugs will bring in an influx of crime. Homelessness due to drug abuse will bring in crime.

The state of Maine supporting people who do not want to work and just sit on their asses and hit up the meth clinic and live off of food stamps is a problem, and has a huge part to play as well.

You guys…if we continue down this path we will loose our state, and our home to this crap. You wanna do something about it? Then we need to get extremely aggressive about our politics and what we will no longer allow in our state.

If we just ignore it then it will get worse. There have been more stabbings, killings, rape, abductions, pedophiles moving in to the area, robberies, and act’s of violence over the past few years then ever before. I’m sick of it aren’t you?
