SACO, Maine — An argument over an incident between a Saco couple at an Old Orchard Beach bar led to one man going to jail early Sunday, according to police.
Jonathan Methot, 26, of Saco went dancing with his fiancee in Old Orchard Beach on Saturday night, and the couple got into a heated argument upon returning home over Methot dancing with somebody else, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.
Holland said Methot and the woman had both been drinking, and when the argument escalated at their Franklin Street residence, Methot pushed the woman and grabbed her by the neck.
“She had some bruising and some soreness,” said Holland. The woman did not require medical attention.
When she attempted to call police just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Methot tried to take the phone away, according to Holland. He fled the residence, and an Old Orchard Beach police K-9 unit was called in to aid in the search.
Holland said the dog tracked and found Methot but lost the scent. Around 5:30 a.m., Methot returned to the residence, prompting the woman to contact police again.
This time, Saco police got their man, Holland said, and Methot was booked on charges of domestic violence assault and obstructing the report of a crime, both Class D misdemeanors.
He was taken to the York County Jail and later released on $440 bail.

Wow the guy pushes and chokes a woman, tries to prevent her from reporting it then runs from police. Now he’s free on $440 bail. So much for getting tough on domestic violence in the state of Maine.

Until they tie the knot, they have no hold on each other. Besides, until we find out which one was breaking the “dancing rules”, we can’t tell who the insecure one is. They might want some premarital counseling before they take the big leap, too. :)
I’m thinking “premarital counseling” would be a bad idea, considering the guy assaulted the woman. He needs some counseling in anger management and she needs some counseling in choosing better people to date.

Why was she dancing with another guy in the first place?? She had total disrespect for her date or boyfriend.. I think he should leave her because she is TROUBLE!!!!
Being engaged, going with or being married, does not mean you cannot dance with someone else. People need to loosen up. It’s people being insecure (and alcohol) that result in actions like this. If you can’t trust your mate, maybe you should be single!
Stuff like this happened daily when I live in the Biddeford/Saco area. Usually in the middle of the street, especially on Bacon St. in Biddeford, or the little side street along the river just over the train tracks in Saco.
Are you kidding? $440 bail on a domestic violence case? Why not just give him a knife and gun and send him back home? These kids are engaged? I wonder if he has consider the dancing partners he will have if he ends up in jail.

Dude!! (Jonathan) How do you expect her to marry you when she can’t dance with the wedding party!? I try to stay neutral and sometimes I pick sides but this time I’m stuck trying to find a respectable way of saying, “that was a pretty stupid move.” I just can’t find an easier way of saying it.

to the lady in the article above, you need to RUN,RUN as fast as you can from this woman beating choking so called man. He showed you what he is capable of doing before he married you. Save your life and back out of any commitment you have with him. You deserve better. I hope you think this through before you say I DO.
