HAMPDEN, Maine — A noise complaint at a Coldbrook Road residence led to one man going to jail for disorderly conduct after he refused to comply with police.

Chad St. Pierre, 35, of Bangor was hanging out with friends at a house Monday evening when things grew too loud and neighbors called police, according to Hampden police Chief Joseph Rogers.

The complaint, which came in just before 8 p.m., involved people yelling, screaming and swearing, Rogers said.

Police talked to two people, including St. Pierre, and tried to get them to quiet down.

“St. Pierre refused to quiet down and told officers that he wasn’t going to quiet down,” said Rogers.

Police ultimately silenced St. Pierre by placing him under arrest and charging him with disorderly conduct, Rogers said.

After St. Pierre was taken to Penobscot County Jail, he failed to give police his name and date of birth, resulting in a charge of failing to provide his correct name and date of birth, Rogers said. He then refused to sign the summons, earning him a charge of failing to sign a criminal summons.

Nobody else at the residence was charged, according to Rogers, and alcohol was not involved.

St. Pierre was released on bail later Monday night.

    1. So if you were sitting in your living room with your wife and young children you’d be ok with the neighbors swearing, screaming and yelling? TV gives them enough of that without having it come through the walls. You can turn off the TV ……….

      1. I do not see in the article where it states that the “neighbors” were in their house watching TV……or if they have children or not……as far as what I am “OK” with in my living room is my business and not the concern of others…..thank you though…..
