BANGOR and ROCKLAND – Virginia L. Stoddard went to be with her Savior July 9, 2012. She was born in January 1918, in Rockland, the daughter of Fred and Edna Leach.

She graduated with honors from Rockland High School and graduated from Rockport’s Ballard Business School. Ginny was a legal secretary for Frank Ingraham, Atty.; a bookkeeper for the Rockland office of the Portland Press Herald; and a bookkeeper for W.C. Ladd Insurance, Rockland, for many years. Ginny was a member of Rockland First Baptist Church and was active in the MacDonald Class. She volunteered at Bible Book Store, Rockland Public Library, and at the Methodist Conference Home office and dining room. She was a charter member and past president of Rockland Women’s Club, past secretary and treasurer of Rockland Senior Citizens, and past treasurer of Rockland AARP. Ginny was married to the best man on earth for 65 years, Richard S. Stoddard, and they lived at 29 Summer St. for 62 years. Ginny and Dick built a cottage on Crawford Lake in Union and enjoyed many years there. Ginny and Dick lived at Rockland Methodist Conference Home when Dick passed away in 2003. She remained there until moving to Bangor. She also found much appreciated friendship and care at The Country Villa, Bangor, for the last months of her life.

Ginny is survived by her two sons and their wives, Frederick and Carole Stoddard of Old Town and William and Diane Stoddard of Lewiston. She is also survived by grandsons, Scott Stoddard and his wife, Marianne, and their daughters, Katherine, Kristen and Kimberly, of Gorham, Mark Stoddard and his wife, Heidi, of Auburn and James Stoddard and his friend, Crystal Hudson, of California and their children, Jade and Brendan Stoddard. She is also survived by granddaughter, Robin Graham of Hampden and her daughters, Kelsey Graham Mugrage and Alisssa Graham.

A private interment is planned at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.
