OLD TOWN – Virginia Lee Mallett, 74, died July 15, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Wellesley, Mass., after a short bout with lung cancer. She was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Old Town, the daughter of Lee and Sarah (Hinckley) Cota.
Ginny lived an active life and met each day with tremendous energy. She always had a smile and a laugh to cheer those around her. She cherished being a grandmother and loved her grandchildren dearly. There are many wonderful memories of times with her friends at Old Town – Orono YMCA. She was always willing and able to help whenever she was needed.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Mallett and wife, Celeste, of Winslow, Lee Mallett and wife, Caroline, of Yarmouth and Patricia Mallett and husband, Kurt Forsgren, of Wellesley, Mass.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Jessica, Sara, Jordyn, Grace, Patrick, Axel, Lars and Beck; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Alexia; aunts, June Anderson and Dee Bradbury of Orono; and uncle, Rossi Cota of Orono. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Mallett, in 2006.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at a memorial reception 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Orono Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 72 Main St., Orono.
