EAST MACHIAS – Fay l. (Berry) Hawkins, 85, died Friday, July 13, 2012, in Machias. She was born Sept. 17, 1926, in East Machias, to Clarence and Delena Berry.
She was married Aug. 10, 1944, to Chet Hawkins of Wesley. She was deeply loved by her children, Gynell Schoppee and husband, Nate, Pauline Wood and husband, Robert, Michael Hawkins and wife, Mary, and Nikki Richardson and deceased husband, Harry. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold and Edsel Berry; and three sisters, Viva Houston, Janice Berry and Juanita Pelletier.
She loved being with her family and friends, and enjoyed playing games, puzzles, reading, knitting, crocheting and cooking. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Jacksonville Cemetery with a memorial gathering at Robert and Pauline Wood’s immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the activity fund at Marshall Healthcare, 16 Beal St., Machias, ME 04654.
