BANGOR – Florence D. (Miner) Curran, 90, died July 17, 2012, at St. Andrews Village. She was born May 20, 1922, in Bangor, daughter of Theodore J. J. and Florence M. (Trenholm) Miner.

As a young woman, Dee enjoyed stenciling and rug hooking. An avid bowler, she took many local and state championships. She was a longtime sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. Dee worked for Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., Bangor, for more than 25 years. In recent years, she cherished dinners out, Saturday night bean suppers, phone calls, flowers and cards. She especially looked forward to visits with her family in Boothbay Harbor.

She was predeceased by her first husband, John F. Nye, in 1957; husband, Charles S. Curran, in 2007; three brothers, Stanley, Adrian and Douglas Miner; sister, Marie and husband, Melvin Maidlow; and special niece, Teresa Hopkins. Dee is survived by her daughter, Carol (Nye) and husband, Brian McKenna, of Boothbay Harbor; two grandchildren, Heather (McKenna) and husband, Gerard O’Brien, of Boothbay Harbor, and Sean McKenna of San Francisco; three great-granddaughters, Cagney, Maisy and Scarlett O’Brien of Boothbay Harbor; many nieces and nephews, with special places in her heart for Rick Maidlow and wife, Debbie, Marlene and husband, Tim O’Reilly, Kathy and husband, Tim McLeod, and Mark Maidlow and wife, Rachel; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Miner of Orrington, Virginia Miner of Bangor and Sharon Winchester of Somerville, Fla.; special and faithful friends, Edward and Mary Lou Gallagher of Atkinson, N.H.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
