FRENCHVILLE and FORT KENT – Pauline D. (Paradis) Belanger, 101, died at a Frenchville health care facility – her home for eight years, July 17, 2012. She was born April 22, 1911, in Eagle Lake, the 17th child of 20 to Joseph and Adelle (Charette) Paradis.

Pauline married Manzer Belanger Sr., Nov. 5, 1929, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. They lived in Belanger Settlement, now known as St. Antoine Road, Wallagrass, until they relocated to Fort Kent, in the 1940s. Pauline loved to knit/crochet and make crafts.

Of 15 children born to her she is survived by daughters, Lucy Plourde Martin and husband, Paul Martin, of Old Orchard Beach, Doreen and husband, Paul Kulakowski, of St. James City, Fla., Theresa Levesque of East Hartford, Conn., and Dolores and husband, Roland Deschaine, of Bloomsburg, Pa.; and sons, Gene Belanger and wife, Betty, of Quitman, Texas, Roy Belanger and wife, Carol, of Cross Lake, Roger Belanger and wife, Juanita, of Fort Kent, Leo Bobby Belanger and wife, Kathy, of Shirley, N.Y., and Manzer Belanger Jr. and wife, Norma, of Frenchville. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Manzer Belanger Sr., in 1984; sons, Neil Belanger, in 1995, and William Belanger, in 2008; three infants sons and an infant daughter in the 1930s, an infant son in 1943, several grandchildren, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and by all her sisters and brothers. A special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for the great care they extended to our mother these eight years.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Monday, July 23, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be afterward at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass.
