DALLAS – Eleanore Rose LeTourneau passed away July 23, 2012. She was born July 11, 1925, in Brewer, to Harold and Mary Estelle Gibbons.
After graduating from Brewer High School she was accepted into the Foreign Service and moved to Washington, D.C., and then on to Germany. After three years she returned to the U.S. and soon met her husband of 55 years, Paul. They traveled the world together and lived in Venezuela, Libya, Iran, London and Morocco, but her fondest memories were the summers spent surrounded by family and friends in Surry. After settling down in Dallas, Ellie became very active in her community. She was an original member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was also involved in Garden Club, a quilting club; a founding member and president of Mother Cabrini Circle; and a member of All Saints Women’s Organization, Dallas Geological Geophysical Club, Golden Saints and Mobile Wives. Ellie was also an avid bridge player, and loved playing with her sisters and friends.
Mrs. LeTourneau was predeceased by her husband, Paul Roland LeTourneau. She is survived by her two younger sisters, Pat and Elaine; brother, Bobby and wife, Starr; three children, Jim, Paul Joseph and wife, Sharon, and Ann Marie; seven grandchildren, Xanada, John, Amanda, Katie, Ashley, Matthew and Elizabeth; and one great-grandchild, Isabella.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at All Saints Catholic Church with a reception after in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition DFW Chapter, attn: Susan Gary, 2501 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75219.
