PARIS, Maine — A Norway man pleaded no contest in a 2010 sexual abuse case that has been in courts for nearly two years. He will serve 120 days.
Timothy Turner, 46, of Norway pleaded Friday in Oxford County Superior Court to sexual abuse of a minor and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs. A gross sexual assault charge was dismissed.
Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne said that in May 2010 Turner gave a 15-year-old girl marijuana and alcohol, then had sex with her.
He was sentenced to five years with all but 120 days suspended, followed by two years of probation. He’ll spend 10 years on the sex offender registry and is to have no contact with the victim or any contact with children under 16 years except for immediate family. His sentence begins Aug. 10.
You have got to be kidding me. 120 days please.
What?! That’s it? The judge responsible for his sentencing should be ashamed.
It seems the judges in this state do not consider sex abuse to be a very serious offense…they constantly let these pervs off the hook with little time served. What an absolute disgrace these judges are.

Judges give so little time in actual prison because they know that the offender will be spending either 10 more years, or a lifetime, in prison on the internet.
It is not nearly long enough time for him to serve. The victims of sexual abuse suffer for much longer than that.

I know people who have gotten caught with a few ounces of Marijuana who did longer in jail then this piece of trash. Great way to spread the message to Maine kids that if you smoke weed you’ll get a worse sentence then if you rape a child, good looking out Maine.

I have been disappointed many times before at the short sentences for these kind of crimes, but I am SHOCKED at 120 days for drugging and then having sex with a 15 year old. Let me guess, Judge, she was asking for it? She doesn’t count because he’s a really nice guy (just look at that smirk!)? He’s misunderstood with a bad history? How can you ILLEGALLY give a 15 year old alcohol, ILLEGALLY give a 15 year old marijuana, and then find it appropriate in your 46 year old mind to have sex with her? Well, I guess if the sentence is only 120 days, it was worth the effort?
I do notice they don’t give the judge’s name. If the judge’s names started being listed with these kind of sentences, would they be as quick to slap the hand of the offender and go home to and face their own families, friends and neighbors.
He is still able to be around young family members…..who do you all think his next victim will be?

The judge must have received a gurantee from some counselor that this girl and her family would erase this event from THEIR minds in 120 days.
