AUGUSTA, Maine — The Bangor Daily News has hired a veteran Maine editor to serve as a political analyst based in Augusta.
Robert Long will focus on how political issues in Augusta affect communities throughout Maine. He has previously served as the managing editor and city editor for the Times Record in Brunswick and, before that, was the editor of the Capital Weekly, a newspaper focused on events in Augusta. Before entering journalism he was a mental health worker and is a cum laude graduate of Bates College in Lewiston.
“Robert brings a reputation as an insightful journalist and as a person who understands and cares about the issues facing Maine,” said Todd Benoit, director of news and news media at the Bangor Daily News. “We are especially pleased that he has joined us because of his coverage experience.”
Long began covering Augusta for the BDN July 30, joining political reporter Matt Stone at the bureau.
The Bangor Daily News is a family-owned, independent daily newspaper covering Maine since 1889. Its website, bangordailynews.com, is Maine’s leading source of news and information.
