MILLINOCKET – Charles Reed Dore, 80, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Millinocket, son of Edward and Nellie (Reed) Dore.
He attended college for a year in Presque Isle and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. After his return, he married Helen Dentremont Pound, in 1959. He worked at Great Northern Paper Co. in the pilot plant and retired in 1986. He was an avid golfer, a member of Hillcrest Golf Club and coached the ski team at Stearns High School before his retirement. He was a 33rd degree Mason with Nollesemic Lodge No. 205, AF & AM of Millinocket, and was a member of First Congregational Church of Millinocket.
Charles is survived by four children, Donna Bishop and husband, Charles, of East Millinocket, Mary Dore of Millinocket, Charles Edward “Bobby” Dore and fiancee, Ina Clowes, of Windham, and John Peter Dore and fiancee, Gayla Dowdy Puzder, of Alpharetta, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth (Peters) Michaud of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Laura Prisco and husband, Gregory, Janis Rodgers and husband, David, Darren Bishop, Kayla Dore, Daniel Dore, and Dylan Dore; three great-grandchildren, Marisa, Aidan and Kyle Prisco; a very special cousin and companion, Anne (Reed) Erickson of Millinocket; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his wife, Helen; second wife, Olla (McFarlane Short) Dore; and son, Danny Pound.
At Charles’ request, private interment will be next to his parents in the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with Pastor Terry Jean Given officiating.
