HERMON, Maine — A Levant man with a sty near his eye thought he was over far enough to avoid a work truck broken down on the side of U.S. Route 2 on Wednesday morning, but he judged the distance wrong, police said.
“He didn’t quite make it,” Sgt. Mike Burgess of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said after the roadway was reopened.
Ricky Harvey, 37, was driving a silver 2001 Ford Ranger and struck a 2006 Ford F-350, owned by Hopkins Landscaping, parked with driver Brian Harris, 24, in the front seat.
“He clipped the left side rear. It didn’t roll over but it was on its side,” Burgess said.
Harvey suffered a minor head injury but refused treatment, Burgess said. “His vehicle is totaled,” Burgess said.
Route 2 was closed for about 25 minutes and Hermon Fire Department personnel assisted with traffic control, the sergeant said.
Anyone know… is it between the Bangor Line/Industrial Park and Cold Brook Road…. or between Cold Brook Road and Hermon Center… or west of Hermon Center? Is it hard to ask that?
It’s a good thing he wasn’t going around a cyclist. Stay off the road until it clears up.
