GUILFORD – Phyllis S. Mills, 100, passed peacefully Aug. 6, 2012, with her twin daughters at her side. She was born July 3, 1912, in Guilford, a daughter of Gordon and Edna (Littlefield) Sharpe. Her mother died when Phyllis was 3 weeks old. She was raised by her grandmother, Luella Littlefield.
She was a graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1930. She lived in Camden for several years before returning to Guilford. Phyllis was a member of United Methodist Church, Guilford. She was actively involved in church activities and served a number of years as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a life member of Almeda Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her summers at the family camp on Whetstone Pond. Phyllis will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Rebecca L. Mills of Guilford and Deborah and husband, Scott Catell, of Dover-Foxcroft; two grandchildren, Pamela and Jonathan; a half sister, Bernice Richmond of Avon, Conn.; close relatives, Paul and Catherine Ruksznis; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; her half sister, Margaret Dyer; and a half brother, James Sharpe.
Visitation will be private. Graveside funeral and committal services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the family lot at Elmwood Cemetery, Guilford, with the Rev. Ann Beach officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Guilford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 267, Guilford, ME 04443. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
