CORINNA, Maine — A three-vehicle accident in front of K&J Auto Sales on Thursday led to a man being airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and the closure of Route 7. The road was reopened at about 1:30 p.m.
Just before noon, a blue Saturn station wagon driven by Joseph Husvar, 55, of Corinna was traveling southbound on Route 7 when it crossed the centerline on the straight stretch of road, said Maine State Police Trooper Trevor Snow.
“For as of yet undetermined reasons, he drifted over the centerline,” said Snow.
Husvar clipped a black sport utility vehicle driven by Todd Walker, 43, of Gorham and hit the pop-up camper Walker was hauling. Husvar then hit a full-size Dodge pickup driven by James Sinclair, 48, of Corinna nearly head-on, said Snow.
Husvar was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to EMMC. A hospital spokesman said Husvar was in fair condition at 2:30 p.m.
Snow said Sinclair suffered minor injuries and his passengers had no injuries. Walker and his family, who were headed to Dover-Foxcroft, were not injured.
“A guy coming at us came into our lane, we swerved, but the camper doesn’t move as quickly, and he hit the camper and then he hit the truck behind us,” said Renee Walker of Gorham, who was a passenger in the SUV. “[The truck behind us] was in pretty bad shape. It happened really fast.”
Renee Walker said she and her family, which included children, were on their way to Peaks-Kenny State Park.
“We were almost there,” she said, adding that the camper was totaled.
Snow said Trooper Jarod Stedman, Dexter police and the Corinna Fire Department assisted at the scene.

If anyone is wondering. No, they do not have center line rumble strips on Route 7.
With that said, I hope everyone makes a full recovery.
i have seen elderly drivers on 7 driving in the middle of the road if you beep they just wave something needs to be done just because we are in maine dont give you a free pass to do what you feel like
I followed some kids down 15 into Bangor earlier today too busy not paying attention to the road, driver had his head toward his passenger more then he did the road in front of him swerving and almost hitting people in the other lane.
Hopefully this was not the result of “not paying attention” there is enough people on the roads allowed to drive doing that already.
You wouldn’t be calling age 55 elderly, would you? I understand your point, but a 55-year-old is almost as likely to be texting as a 16-year-old. Course, there could have been a reason, rather than an excuse, for him crossing the center line.
I see young people not paying attention more than anyone. Their eyes are barely on the road.
What??! The Walkers were the victims of the crash–going to the park with their camper. They were not guilty of anything.
it wasnt the Walkers’ at fault for one, and for another, why do you think you need to come off so rude and try to suggest DHS get involved in every little thing. all your recent comments to various pages are completely uncalled for.
they’re there for mockery of the BDN
I have noticed this summer that each time I’ve gone out on Rt. 7 people are almost swerving across the center line. This happened today, as well as a few days ago. They just catch themselves the last minute before crossing the line. I have thought maybe it was tourists who are tired from driving–but perhaps texting or using the cell phone is the problem??
You should be remanded to DHS State Custody for a period.
you might want to read the story again the walkers are not the ones that caused the accident….
The man who crossed the center line’s head was down. He was not conscious, and whether he passed out, had syncope or a stroke is not known. He wasn’t just not paying attention. This was (of course) not reported by the BDN, but by accident survivors who were hit, as well as paramedics at the scene. Everyone other than the person who caused the accident is fine other than bumps and scrapes, and probably whiplash, thank goodness. Why does everyone jump to conclusions?
I certainly hoe Mr. Husvar is ok. What ever caused him to cross the centerline, seems to have been medical.
