HOLDEN and BREWER – Avis Cox, 95, died Aug. 11, 2012, at a Brewer health care facility. She was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Lubec, daughter of Cecil Clyde and Emma Alice (Wilbur) Stuart.
Avis was a longtime member of Grace Bible Church, Holden, and enjoyed the services and many friendships she established there.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria and her husband, Roger Mitchell, of Holden; two grandchildren, Michael Mitchell and wife, Tara, of Vassalboro, and Cheryl and husband, Peter Foster, of Calais; six great-granddaughters, Erin and Tracy Foster, Jessie, Tiffany and Samantha Mitchell and Alyssa Wood; two great-great-grandsons; nephew, Vance Stuart Jr.; and niece, Linda Zwicker. Avis was predeceased by her husband, Earl; and one brother, Vance.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Grace Bible Church, 6 Blood Hill Road, Holden. She will be buried beside her husband at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.
