BANGOR, Maine — A Winslow man was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, criminal mischief and refusing to sign a summons last week after he was pulled over by a Maine State Police trooper.
Timothy Reynolds, 51, was driving south on Interstate 95, near the Hogan Road exit, when Trooper Josh D’Angelo caught up with him late last Thursday night.
D’Angelo said this week that he had been asked to be on the lookout for an erratic driver when he spotted Reynolds, who allegedly was driving 81 mph in a 55 mph zone. He said Reynolds showed signs of being under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
According to the trooper, Reynolds was not a cooperative subject.
“He was confrontational. When I put him in the back [of the police cruiser], he became very agitated,” D’Angelo said. He said that Reynolds struggled, kicking the radio and radar equipment off the cruiser’s dash, and that he later tussled with intake personnel at Penobscot County Jail.
The drunk driving charge was elevated to Class C felony status because Reynolds, who refused to undergo blood-alcohol content testing, had more than three prior OUI convictions on his driving record, D’Angelo said.
Reynolds, who is out on bail, is scheduled to appear at the Penobscot Judicial Center next month, D’Angelo said.

lock him up and throw away the key.
he’s clearly never going to stop driving drunk, so protect the people, lock him up.
BUILD MORE PRISONS!
The answer could be as simple as putting breath analyzers in all cars.
And if you find a way to bypass the system it will be an additional mandatory sentence.
What 10 days in jail all but 9 suspended time served
No suspended sentence, take the choice out of the judges hands and make it mandatory
make it years instead of days
the public needs to be safe from drivers being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Ridiculous notion. Onerous and intrusive. Orwellian.
Either you have been convicted of an DUI or OUI and wouldn`t like having to blow into a machine to start your car. Or drive while drinking.
It is better to be intrusive to a known convicted drunk driver, who could care less about other drivers
Maybe we should wait til this drunk kills an innocent child or bystander
” Orwellian” describes the situation,
idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive
to the welfare of a free and open society
The safety of the general public out weights this driver right to drive drunk, they have proved he just doesn`t care
ONEROUS: burdensome, oppressive, or troublesome; causing hardship
So it`s a burden and troublesome for this man to start his car after getting drunk
Hopefully it does cause a hardshipand he has to call a taxi.
Big word to protect a drunk
LET`S WORRY ABOUT THE RIGHTS OF THE INNOCENT AND NOT A CONVICTED DRUNK.
TAKING HIS LICENSE WILL DO NO GOOD BECAUSE HE WILL OPERATE AFTER IT HAS BEEN REVOKED
Lock him up and throw away the key in Maine is a joke!
Do like LePage said build a prison in Milo and pass the three strike rule and protect our honest citizens or should I call them victims.
Take the car away…..Period.It now belongs to the state.
He would just get another
There should be a special prison for drunks where they are provided free alcohol. They can stay and drink until they die, or sober up for a year to be released.
Jail
Unfortunately, this man is not an exception, in spite of all the boasting about Maine’s “strict” drunk driving laws.
How did Reynold’s kick the radio and radar equipment on the dashboard if he was put in the back of the cruiser?
He won’t get his license taken away until he kills someone. Then he will get 5 years…
