PURCHASE, N.Y. – Marie Conners passed away Aug. 6, 2012, in Norwalk, Conn. Born Nov. 17, 1920, in Philadelphia, to Louis and Pauline (Chomas) Tsoulas, she was raised in Bangor, where she lived for most of her life.
After graduating from Bangor High School, she became a beautician and at age 27, married the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Stanley M. Conners Jr. Together they raised three children, and owned and operated several local businesses in the Bangor area, including Pinestate Beltone Hearing Aid Service Inc., Mr. Paperback and The Cheese House. After retiring to Tuscon, Ariz., Marie became active in her local community, welcoming newcomers to the area, as well as working in her church as a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends, and was known for her lifelong love of fashion. After losing her husband in 2006, she moved to New York, where Marie lived with her daughter and enjoyed many new friendships in the local senior community. Her warm smile, kind spirit and enthusiasm served as a constant reminder to all of us to live life to its fullest.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Conners of Cleveland and Nancy Tokarz and Michael of Purchase, N.Y. She leaves six adoring grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael, in 2006.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Interment will be afterward at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
