BELFAST – Gayleen Marie (Beal) Hall graduated Earth school July 28, 2012, at her sister’s local hospice house, Sacred Haven. She proceeded through her dying process in the same way that she lived: with great determination and generosity, donating her body to education and research via University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She was born Sept. 10, 1968, to the Rev. David and Nancy (Wilbur) Beal, now of Spruce Head.
Gayleen was active in her church and always opened her home to help others, whether they had two legs or four. She was a hospice volunteer, working to create better end-of-life care for everyone. For several years, she faced health complications with an iron will to succeed and move forward. Through chronic pain she continued to work in our community, serving people who also struggled with life’s challenges.
The fourth of five children, she was predeceased by her youngest sibling, Conni, in 1994. She is certainly missed by many, especially her children, Aaron and Nina Todd, and Kelsey Noble; husband, Timothy; siblings, Andy Beal of Amherst, N.H., Tom and Linda Beal of Hudson, N.H., and Sonja Beal of Belfast; sister-out-law, Sharon Werner; spirit sister, Linda Hoeschle; and friend since childhood, Shirlee (West) Hurd.
There will be a celebration of life 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at First Baptist Church, 95 High St., Belfast, where a reception of pictures and stories will be held after. Prepare to laugh!
