AUBURN – Joseph L. Deschenes, formerly of Madawaska, passed away Aug. 19, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at The Hospice House, Auburn. Joseph was born March 30, 1922, in Lowell, Mass., son of Thomas and Anna (Lacombe) Deschenes.
Joseph was a World War II veteran and member of American Legion Post No. 147. Joseph worked at Fraser Paper Mill, Madawaska, where he was an electrician. Joseph enjoyed family gatherings, sharing stories and a good laugh, following the Red Sox, staying current on national and world news, and hearing about the achievements of his grandchildren. Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Bernadette Albert.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Clavette and husband, Don, of Madawaska; son, David and life partner, Danielle Cyr, of Edmundston, New Brunswick; daughter, Lucille Arnold of Bangor; daughter, Rita Dumais and husband, Jerry, of Auburn; and daughter, Denise Jensen and husband, Lew, of Auburn. He also leaves grandchildren, Peter Clavette and wife, Tammy, John Clavette, Andrew Clavette and wife, Alicia, Elizabeth Clavette, Scott Deschenes and wife, Jasmine, Melissa Deschenes Ringuette and husband, Scott, Matthew Arnold, Michael Arnold, Jennifer Langan and husband, Brendan, Joseph Dumais and wife, Theresa, Llewelyn Jensen and Olivia Jensen; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kamryn Clavette, Justin and Emma Ringuette, Adeline and Connor Langan. Joseph was predeceased by grandson, Dana William Arnold of Madawaska. The family thanks the staff at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston; as well as the staff at The Hospice House, Auburn.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at St. David Church. Family and friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held immediately after the service at the parish cemetery.
