BANGOR, Maine — A mechanical problem late Thursday afternoon prompted a US Airways flight to make an emergency landing at Bangor International Airport.
The aircraft, a Canadair CRJ-200, was en route from Bangor to Philadelphia when at 4 p.m., less than half an hour after takeoff, it developed a mechanical problem involving the flaps on the back sides of its wings, BIA Director Tony Caruso said.
The flight landed about 30 minutes later without incident, Caruso said. He said none of the 52 people who were aboard the airplane were injured.
“Those are the ones we like,” Caruso said of Thursday’s outcome.
Caruso said US Airways was working to find passengers alternate travel arrangements as of 5:30 p.m.
In accordance with the airport’s emergency protocol, firefighters and emergency medical personnel from the Bangor Fire Department from the nearby Maine Air National Guard base were called to BIA, where they stood by until the emergency was declared over.

It’s BGR not BIA.
Or KBGR on the AirNav charts…
Here is the flight tracker from FlightAware:

I always have seen it as Bangor International Airport, BGR is the 3 letter airport designator, but sign says BIA
Saw the flight before it landed. It was in a hurry. My grandson noticed it when we were traveling in the area and said, ” that plane is in a rush Nana.” Glad to hear that everyone is all right.
Possibly with the flaps not working, the pilots could not decrease air speed. Must have been a tense landing!
“Flaps on the back side of its wings”. Always did think that’s where I’d find them.
Back in my day we had the flaps under the plane in a special box. You kids are spoiled these days.
Is it sad that the only way we can get people to come to Bangor is when they think their plane is going to crash?
They had departed Bangor bound for Philly. Make fun of Bangor all you want but in an emergency like this I’m sure all of these pilots are thankful there is a top notch facility here.
Top Notch, they had to move a Ford Tri-motor off the runway to get this one down.
