EAST MILLINOCKET – Mona O. (Brewer) King, 89, went home to the Lord Aug. 20, 2012, surrounded by her family. Mona was born June 26, 1923, in East Millinocket, daughter of Jerry and Pearl (Thompson) Brewer.
Mona graduated from Schenck High School, class of 1942. Afterward she moved to Waterbury, Conn., with her special cousin, Charlene Brewer Eaton, where she worked in a factory as part of the war production effort. After moving back home, Mona married Guido Ciarrocchi. They were blessed with a daughter, Donna Lee. In 1958 Mona married her second husband, Louis King. They became the proud parents of Greg. Mona was an accomplished thespian, starring in several high school plays. She was also an eloquent public speaker. Mona also had a passion for music and singing, like so many of her relatives. She was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God for many years. Mona’s family and strong faith in Jesus were the most important things in her life. She devoted herself to caring for family and friends, especially her beloved mother. Her selflessness was genuine and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mona is survived by her two loving children, Donna and Greg, both of East Millinocket; a brother, Gary Brewer and his companion, Lillian Nisbett, of East Millinocket; her grandchildren, Scott Duffy and wife, Billie Anne, Jason Duffy and wife, Renae, all of East Millinocket, and Danielle Burns and husband, Chad, of Biddeford; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Alessandra, Boston, Haley and Brennan; great-great-grandson, Landon Duffy; stepdaughter, Sandra; three dear cousins who were lifelong friends, Paulen Mclean, Geraldine Wallace and Mabel Vincent; sister-in-law, Maxine King; six nieces and their families, Lynne Haseltine, Pam Brewer, Michelle Brewer, Kelly Brewer, Carrie Peabody and Lynda Sprague; three nephews and their families, Wayne Brewer, Terry Brewer and Stephen Brewer; and a special friend, Matthew Jameson, whose visits she cherished. In addition to her parents, Mona was predeceased by her husband, Louis; a brother, Glen; stepson, Ernie; stepdaughter, Carol; three dear sisters-in-law, Fedelma, Marion and Peggy; son-in-law, Duane Duffy; and special friend, Peter Pasquine. Mona had many special caregivers the last years of her life at Katahdin Nursing Home, In Home Care and CHCS Hospice. The family expresses their sincere thanks for the excellent care they gave her, especially Ann, Betty, Jan, Joleen, Jackie, Loraine and Donna.
Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
