BANGOR, Maine — A 51-year-old First Street woman was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge Tuesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend.

The incident that led to the arrest of Vicki Bunker occurred about 3:30 p.m., after Bangor police were called to First Street to look into a report of two people shouting at each other.

When they arrived, officers found scratches on Bunker’s boyfriend’s shoulder, Edwards said. The boyfriend reportedly tried to call for help but Bunker prevented him from doing so.

Edwards said the arrest report indicated that both of the parties had been drinking.

  1. It’s beginning to look like Maine is just going to fall apart because of the past generation or two of losers, drunks, and druggies.  I don’t know how a person could be a cop and deal with this stuff every single day.

  2. As I have said before, sometimes the woman is the violent one. It does not happen often, but it does happen.

    1. Actually, women assaulting their partners is something that is very under-reported.  Many men are too embarrassed to report an assault or feel they would be taking a mother away from her children if she was arrested and convicted.  Or like many women, men will just put up with it because they “love” their partner so much.

      1. Maybe. But it is hard to know for sure without the numbers, which are not available because of under reporting. The dynamics of power and control are the same and can have the same outcome. I had a male friend and his girlfriend used to go off on him when she was drinking particularly. She would use pitchforks, chains, whatever was available to hurt him. And he had a friend stabbed to death by his wife.

  3. I clicked on the picture and she’s has some battle scars. Looks like she may have been beat up a few times.

    1. Now let’s not get silly:)  (Although I can see where you may have mistaken it as a  dude looking like a lady)

  4. BDN has 3 stories today about people being assaulted.  It just keeps happening.  Assault is grossly under-prosecuted in Maine.  The second infraction should warrant mandatory jail time, perhaps 2 years or more.  The third assault should be a mandatory 5 years, enough time to think over ones behavior problems.  Anything less not going to motivate these people to stop.

  5. i have a few questions…1.is this really a woman??  2. is she really only 51?? and i swear i have seen her picture in the BDN before.
