PALMYRA, Maine — Police are searching for two men who entered a residence, stabbed one occupant, assaulted the other, and made off with money and prescription drugs early Tuesday morning.

In the early morning hours Tuesday, two unknown white males entered an unlocked camper-type trailer on Smith Road, where they demanded money and drugs from the two occupants, a male and a female, according to Somerset County Sheriff’s Department Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II. Police received the call at 4:51 a.m.

Gottardi said the men assaulted the male occupant while making their demands.

“The male victim received several stab-type wounds on his body, in his leg and arm areas,” said Gottardi.

The male victim then attempted to escape the trailer through a window, but was further assaulted outside.

“[He] received a head injury, from what appeared to be some type of blunt object,” said Gottardi. “The female victim was reportedly assaulted inside the trailer without the use of a weapon.”

The two suspects fled on foot and made off with prescription medications and cash, said Gottardi.

“They may have gotten into a motor vehicle a ways from the trailer,” he said.

Both victims were transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield in a private vehicle. The male victim was still being treated at the hospital Wednesday afternoon, but his injuries were not life threatening, said Gottardi.

A K-9 unit was brought in to assist at the scene. The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery and assault is asked to call the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department at 800-452-1933 or an anonymous tip line at 474-0230.

  1. Wow, this is still Maine right?  More and more everyday, with no end in sight.  Someone help, please!  Something needs to happen, we don’t got near enough cops to deal with the crime that we already had, let alone all the new upstart criminals that pop up everyday…

  2. Why do these ingrates think they have the right to enter other peoples property, assault the occupants, and take their property?  No One is safe from crime anymore, even in these small towns.

  3. “In other news, Maine judges are being encouraged by the public to consider a surgical procedure that would result in the placement of a backbone.”

  4. If someone like these 2 jokers enter my home, I have an anti burglar device by Mr.Winchester.They would be bringing knives to a gun fight. It’s hard to miss with buckshot.

  5.   A lot of senior citizens have been victimized – it seems more and more. If you have a legitimate prescription for anything in demand by these punks, tell no one and keep them locked up. If you are abusing prescription drugs, get cleaned up or Maine will start cleaning you up within the limits of the law.

Keep your doors locked.  Have a firearm and know how to properly use it. Have a phone to call 911 if necessary. Get a protective dog that will protect the family. Never advertise valuables and be very careful who you allow inside or around your home. Many home invasions occur after someone cases the inside (or outside) of your home.
